Vizio E601i-A3 horizontal line and funk

So I picked up a Vizio E601i-A3 for a REALLY low price today on Craig's. The advertisement for it showed what looks a LOT like T-Con board funk as the colors are off and there is some very odd funk going on. This is a very large screen and I'd love to use it at home. The images on Craig's did not show a horizontal line. Now that I have it home and on my work bench it has a line in it as pictured in the attachment.

Is the panel on this TV wasted? Is there any kind of remedy for this? The T-Con boards are cheap on eBay and I'm hearing of a recall on this TV anyway.

I've got $25.00 invested so far - is this TV worth spending any more time and money on?

put a better display on it... a test pattern of some sort. Then post a picture of the display so it can be determined which side the line is coming from. IF you are lucky, its a "simple surgery" of removing the side tabs on the side that is bad and you may get the set back to "normal"... basically looking like it should.

I see that black like coming from the left side (facing tv) probably a failed gate driver on that side.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Sounds shitty, just like a Sharp 70 inch'er or the like... Wouldn't surprise me if it's a Sharp panel!

So when I turn the TV on and the logo displays the left hand side is washed out right at the beginning of the panel. It still needs the t-con as the rest of the video looks horrible. For $20.00 a t-con is a cheap deal. As of now I'll do the t-con while I research tab bonding repair/workarounds.

It is a sharp panel. E701 uses boards as gates. E601 uses just tabs. Same failures. And some have been knownn to swap tcons between the two.

Do you have a link to a good (informative) thread on tabs? I think I understand the general idea but would love to know more. I'd like to make this panel useful if at all possible.

Okay so additional question here. There are several t-con boards for this TV. I have a RUNTK5261TP ZM board. Lots of ZH and other boards online. Are they interchangeable???

Look at posts on vizio or sharp tab removal on this forum. Lots of threads even a few pages back.
