    Hisense 50k23dg backlight problem

TV symptom was no backlight, everything else worked great. Seemingly the backlights are a common failure on these I decided to open it up and give it a shot on replacing the LED strips. I open it up and look at the horror of what I found underneath (See attached pics).

I wanted to test if any of the other strips were defective, what is the best way to do this ?

After some soldering I replaced the burnt part of the white wire and added some length to the red wire so I could bridge them together, is this the proper way to test the other strips? I tried it but I got nothing but an 8 blink code on the IR sensor. I'm just trying to think of a good way to test the strips so I can see if any others are bad. Quick edit I get a solid 24v from the power supply on the output for the LEDs

    Thanks for any help!

My quick edit was mistaken I get 230v - 240v with the LED cable connected or not. I just bridged the red wire together and I still get the same blink code of 8 blinks.

I searched the forum and there seems to be one other similar thread with some measurements but there is no follow up to what the measurements should be etc.

If you have bridged out one strip of leds then it will not work. All the leds on all the strips must be working in order for the backlights to come on. You can check each strip of leds or individual leds. There are plenty of Youtube video's available.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Is there a way to test one strip at a time? I'm waiting on new LED strips should be here in like 4-5 days. Trying to do as much troubleshooting as I can before they get here.

Problem? What's the problem?? Lol. Well this is what happens when LED strips are driven to the brink. When they get there make sure you turn the backlight level down and also make sure you get a new wiring harness with those strips.

Most likely one shorted or open circuit the other ones went too bright in a shorted as well. That's pretty bad so that they got that hot they caught fire

Any leads on getting a new harness I can't find one anywhere. I managed to find the strips and most everything else on the TV but not that wiring harness. I really need one of those little connectors as the old one melted and im not quite sure how I'm gonna solder bare wire onto those small wires.

I might have a harness here you hould hack and spice into your existing harness. Show a close up pic of the LED connector.

Well I checked all my harnesses and they are all two pin, even though yours only use 2 wires you have a spot for a 3rd center pin so mine are narrower so they probably won't fit. Sorry I tried. Hopefully the ones you get may have a wire harness on them.

had the exact same problem....replaced 3 bad strips...one almost started a fire..you can put 21v to the strip to check if they work..theres a + and a - sign on the strip you can probe...the problem i had after was the plastic screen that the led sits on was black in the corner from smoke...couldint get it all off..

Well boys I got the lights in today and they work find but I somehow cracked the LCD when putting it back on RIP me. On the somewhat bright side only one other strip was bad and 2 other strips only had 1 LED out a piece, so 7 good working ones.

                            by lmcancu
Hi I am having an issue with the LED backlight of this TV. I can see the picture with a flash light, so I determined it was a backlight issue.

Initially, after opening it I found 2 shorted and 1 open LED on 2 strips (total of 4). I removed the LEDs and shorted the pads together to verify if the backlight would work.

Testing it, I found the backlight turned on and I measured 54V when TV was in standby (off), and 100v when TV was turned on. The 4 strips each contain 9 LEDs, so 36 in all minus 3.

Instead of putting it back together I decided to replace...

Vizio M70-D3 4K with dark spots backlight issue
                            by Yanleb
I have a Vizio M70-D3 4K with a dark spots backlight issue. It is using the Y8387248A backlight driver board.

On this model each of the 64 transistor powers 2 LEDs. Using my TKDMR TD3H backlight tester I've determined that the backlight LED strips were the issue, and the backlight driver board was just fine. Some LED pairs required 5.9 volt at 155mA, some required 9.5 volt and some were completely open.

I've removed the LCD panel and once the LED strips were exposed I've tested them again by connecting my LED tester directly on the test pads. To my surprise all, I've...

ASUS ROG Strix G713QR - Keyboard, backlight and side LEDs don't work
                            by hollox123
Hello, I have an "ASUS ROG Strix G713QR" laptop, and for approx. 3 months I have the following problems:

                            1. Laptop keyboard doesn't work
                            2. The backlight on the laptop keyboard doesn't work
                            3. The x2 side LEDs (red) on the laptop don't work

The power button works, the touchpad works, and all the USB, HDMI, Ethernet, etc. ports work.

I already tried to reinstall all the drivers and reinstall Windows. So I don't know what to try anymore that is software-related.

But I am strongly aiming that it is somehow a BIOS-related problem,...

This set has the known reputation of failed led backlights. The set does not turn on, but when plugged in, the power led stays lit for about 5 seconds followed by two short blinks and then it repeats itself. While shinning a flashlight on the screen, you can make out the Sharp logo, then it goes out and repeats the cycle. I measured some voltages across the led backlight connector. What has me puzzled is that when I place the negative lead of my vom on the led backlight pin connector (in which the black wire going to the leds was), I measure as high as -228volts, and then it falls to -95 volts...

I have a Panasonic LED TV TC-40A420U. The TV was given to me as an attempt to fix or throw out. I replaced the Backlight LEDs and now the screen lights up, but there is no image/display. If I play with the up/down buttons I can get the display to change from black to garbled. I can't get sound from HDMI but not sure of what input is selected. I have no remote control. When I connect a laptop to the HDMI ports it recognizes a Panasonic TV for display and sound output but I can't see or hear anything through the TV. This makes me think the mainboard is OK, but not sure if mainboard can...
