I was kind of joking about the backlights... I don't think they would be "blued" with a voltage difference.

    So.... a couple of questions.

when OP is disconnecting the tcon to panel cable... are you disconnecting at the edge board or at the tcon. Disconnect at the tcon IF those are clampable cables (I can't tell). Repeat you test (ie. disconnect one side ... and then do the other). Any change?

Next, the bottom boards have a "bridge" cable... interconnecting halves of the bottom.
IF they are unclampable, connect up your tcon cables but now disconnect at those aftermentioned cables. Anyways difference?

I meant source driver. Sorry. And this panel does not have boards at the sides. It's an LG panel. Likely gate "tabs" instead. But yes look for corrosion at the source drivers.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Sadly, once I pulled the bezel on this, I found a tab that was partially pulled away from the panel. Oh well. Thanks everyone.

Sony KD-75XF9005 grey Picture but Sound. TCON or panel?
          by iglitare
          Hi,

i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted...

Missing LCD Panel Voltages VGH, VGL, VCOM (TCL 55P6US Sound & Backlight but NO Picture)
          by maneatingmonkey
I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.

There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.

Sony Panel Swap Experiment 65x900h with the panel from a 65x930d

          65x900h with the panel from a 65x930d.

900H: model yr 2020, Samsung panel
930D: model yr 2016, Innolux panel

spec wise the panels are the same. the drivers and tcons are obviously different but what made me want to give this a try is that the wiring diagrams for the data signals going into the tcon for each tv were nearly identical. there are only a couple pins that i am unsure about and that is what brings me here.

the 930d has the DPS board where the 900h has none, however, if you follow the pins to the BM1 it would appear that the signals...

Bad Panel in Sony Bravia X850G
          by guidodroid
          Hello all,
I'm trying to understand what is the issue with my 26 months old Sony Bravia KD-65XG8505 (XBR65X850G).
It is just few months out of warranty, so Sony doesn't want to do anything, and the local replacement shop also tells me that it's not worth repairing (alhtough this model costed almost 1000 euros just 2 years ago...).

Few nights ago the TV started showing some horizontal lines and distorted colors/geometries in the bottom part of the screen (see attached photos).
The issue is not as bad as others that I've seen around, but is indeed noticeable...

Sony KD-65A1 Repair – 4 Red Blinks Error
          by AK_777
          Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...
