philips 50Mf231d/37 plasma distorted buzzing sound from speakers

hi i got this tv the other day

powers on fine and video is fine but it seems to have a slight humming distorted sound coming from speaker...its not a constant loudness seems to flucuate a bit....

if i mute the tv the buzzing still continues coming out of the speaker...but goes away after about 10 seconds

if i unmute the buzzing sound comes back...and stays buzzing as long as sound is not muted

the buzzing does go louder if volume is increased.

i do see 2 bulging caps on power supply board ...just an observation

the buzzing is not coming from the caps.....its in the speakers

    any help would be appreciated

Re: philips 50Mf231d/37 plasma distorted buzzing sound from speakers

Change the caps first since it may be allowing poorly filtered DC to the audio amplifier/preamplifier.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

      some more observations

the pitch of the buzzing sound seems to change a bit depending on whats being displayed on the tv....

the volume level does not affect the buzzing...even if you have volume turned all the way down but not actually muted the sound is still there....

as soon as you mute the sound..the buzzing goes away after 10 seconds

          more observations

if i have tv on with nothing connected to inputs here is what happens when i cycle through these inputs and it doesnt matter what level the volume is on.

av1...buzzing coming out of speaker...does not go away
av2..buzzing coming out of speaker..does not go away
av3.buzzing coming out of speaker..does not go away
tv..buzzing coming out of speaker but goes away after 10 seconds
hdmi..buzzing coming out of speaker but goes away after 10 seconds
side av..buzzing coming out of speaker ..does not go away

if i hit mute button the buzzing goes away no matter what input im on

Hey burton....thanks for advice..it appears the buzzing from speakers is gone onve inreplaced the 4 bad 470uf 35v caps

They were a pain to get to...under heatvsink overhang....indidnt wantbto remove 50 components so i surgically removed them.....difficult tight space but i did it.....using some odd techniques

Solder wick wouldnt work on the leaded double sided board so i had to deal with that

Yamaha MOX8 boot freeze and distorted sound
                  by maleksa
My Yamaha MOX8 synthesizer recently developed two issues.

Firstly, after booting up, it operates as normal. However, after about 5 minutes, the sound starts to get distorted (broken up screeching sound) almost like putting it through a guitar distortion pedal. After a while, the distorted sounds will go away for a while and comes back. At times, the synthesizer will also freeze I need to power off and on again.

Secondly, when powering off and on again, there will be times where the synthesizer will freeze during the boot sequence (freezes at the MOX8 Opening Screen),...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
                  by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Philips 65PUS8518/12 distorted image after main board replacement
                  by tuner2000i
                  hello everyone,

I don't normally do tv repairs but this is a case with my personal TV which got fried together with many other electronics in my house after a thunderstorm.

The TV is a Philips 65PUS8518/12 which had no power. I measured and concluded that the main board was probably fried through ethernet or hdmi. I found a board with same number 715GD328-M0F-B00-005Y (I had G) but from a 55PUS8518. The TV starts but the image is doubled, distorted. I need to set the panel code which is 016 according to the sticker on the back but I can not seem to do it.

                  by LEECH666
                  Good day ladies and gentleman!

I am currently trying to repair a Grundig Vision 9 37 9880 T USB LCD TV for a friend that has a weird audio problem. Basically everything works fine except for the heavily distorted sound when the Subwoofer module is connected and there is a buzzing sound coming from the PSU PCB.

This seems to be a rather rare TV so there is not much prior on topic help to be found however a service manual is available at the usual sources (Electro Tanya i.e.).

I think the PSU buzzing comes from one of the coils near the bridge rectifier but...

HP 8470p - distorted sound and noise when playing audio
                  by televizora
                  Hello.
I have an issue with HP 8470p - rather strange one.
I have a noise and sound distortions on both internal speakers and external speakers, when I plug such into the 3.5mm audio jack.
Seems like the noise is present especially when I play audio, where there are parts/sections where the volume of the actual recorded sound is low.
Interestingly, when I play the windows sound test, everything seems to be almost okay. The sound/distortions are similar to when you have interference from some other piece of equipment nearby or when you have an audio receiver with bad amplifier...
