This power supply used in a number of different branded 26"-32" sets. In my case a Vivid brand with inbuilt DVD player from Aldi. Got this set given to me with remark it goes but DVD doesn't. It had a reasonable picture but no remote and side buttons a bit flaky to use also hesitant to start at times. Removed back saw two caps on psu just started leaking black on top so replaced them got standby but no start at all now. Pulled psu again saw another cap maybe just starting to swell so replaced it and another two for good measure. Standby ok no start no output voltages can't force psu on. Exasperated did a search and found one post (not here) with same problem after recapping. The answer was very definite that a small 33uf at position ec4 also had to be replaced when new caps were done. I only had a used 47uf so put that in and....success. Posting here now for info. But the DVD still not working - operates but can't read so probably laser light.

Re: Psu. Fsp205-4e03
Hi Max!
I were seeking for this *Precious info* and I've found it here!
It worked also for me!!!!
My PSU is now back and kicking!
Ihad the problem that this PSU become *weak* and ec4 was the culprit!
But, differently from you, NONE of the capacitors where bloated or leaking... NO EXTERNAL sign could address me to this tiny capacitor....
I also analized it and....Nothing was really wrong with it...only the internal resistance was 3 ohms, ther one I changed has 2,2 ohms .... boh!
Anyway THANKS!!

Well done Mario and glad the post helped you. Its certainly an unusual problem the such an innocuous little cap has such a big affect.Comment

by MicroSMD LabHi, I'm working on a MSI laptop, Motherboard number MS-16W11, GF-65 Thin 10SDR-459US. Went to another shop because the screen was flickering, but it was working well on an external monitor. The LCD was ordered and the laptop was returned to the customer and it no longer worked. It was then sent to another tech (by the shop who ordered the LCD) and the EC (ENE KB9028Q) was replaced with a donor from another MSI board with different board number and no programming was done. It looks like work was done on PU6 (TPS51225) as well as one of the GPU mosfets was burnt (I removed all three GPU mosfets)....

by thesameI have a dead FX505D, motherboard FX505DD REV 2.0 , the owner replaced the cmos using a screwdriver and he touched something on the board, since then the laptop its not starting, i have managed to see that U8800 (BQ24780SRUYR) charging IC is getting hot under a thermal camera , i have desoldered it but the laptop still doesn't power on, i also have no voltage at power connector on the board. I also replaced the U8800 but still no power. What should i check next?04-22-2024, 01:21 AM

by zlr8rHey guys, bit stumped with this laptop after replacing 2 blown components i.e., MP86493, MP2979A.
To begin with, this laptop was dead-dead.
Now with replaced (visibly) blown components, i do get some progress; after connecting battery or main cable;- am getting white power led
- 5-long-flashes on CAPS Lock and NUM lock
- then, fan full speed
- CPU heats up some (smaller die PCH, does not)
- always constant black screen no matter what's tried
- no USB recognition
- no HDMI output
