    Proscan PLDED3992A-C led failure?

I read a couple of threads on this set but i didnt see any repair resolution
But it did guide me to take apart the panel to get to the led strips

As you can see the bottom 2 strips do power on and the top does not. But they flash non stop every second

I disconnected the top strip to see if the bottom 2 would stay on but they continued to flash every second

Would this mean the top strip is faulty ?

I couldnt find any replacement strips on ebay or shop jimmy but i did find leds on ebay but dont know if they will work

Don't think they will work. 30mv. You will need at least 1watt 350mv. I would also recommend led backlight tester like one of these http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...Tool+&_sacat=0

So if one led is faulty the entire strip goes out?

Will the tester tell me the mv & wattage of the led?

They are in series if 1 opens the strip will go out. If 1 shorts the shorted 1 will go out. The tester will tell the working voltage at 300ma

Unless you have the means/skill to remove and replace individual LUDs on a backlight strip. I would recommend looking for a close enough substitute and replacing the entire strip. In my view, if the substitute strip has the same spacing and No. of LEDs, working voltage for each LED at 2.5Vdc, you will have success. I have substituted strips before and have had no callbacks....Go brave.

I would rather replace the entire strip but i cannot find any substitutes with the same amount of LEDs.

You can relatively easy improvise with these kind of LEDs. You can either replace individual LEDs with the help of a hotplate and solder paste. You can probably also cut a piece of a longer strip. Pay attention to the polarity. The distance between the LEDs may not be the same though so the reflective sheet may not fit.

Have a look here to see how individual LEDs are replaced: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_E7...8&spfreload=10

this one looks like the same length and has the same amount of LED's

If the spacing is the same as the 10 LED strip I will tell you yes, but would have to make a loop connection to continue the series chain for it to work. I have done this twice. The spacing was different and I cut new holes in the white reflective sheet lining for the new LEDs. It worked. When I closed every thing back up you couldn't tell the difference.

I did not have good experiences with hot air. If you heat the LED too long the casing may break/melt. For removing that's ok.

Soldering the new one with hot air will take quite some experimenting I guess. If the LED strip is an aluminum PCB you can heat easily from below...

I now only use hotplate/oven etc and solder paste etc.

I tried several methods. So far the best for me is hot air. When reinstalling I heat up pads till molten then drop led on an heat for several seconds. What works for one may not work for others. You have to find your own method. I also do not remove strip from panel which saves time. Of course you have to make sure nothing on other side of panel tp melt.

I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth...

Hi, I am installing a long led strip and I noticed that it frequently flickers slightly, it is not a strong nor regular thing, but it is noticeable and annoying. I have measured the voltage of the mains and it shows some fluctuations, it normally stays at around 226v, but often (every few seconds) drops down to 218/219v), and the flickering happens exactly at the same time. I have measured this at the counter and with every appliance off, so it's not related to the house electrical system, but that's how it comes from the supplier.
I know that the best solution would be to get a voltage...

I wonder if i shorted the whole strip...where to put pos and neg to just light up a single diode...or the entire strip. The strip lit for a second...so maybe i fried it? What say you?

I have an adjustable dc power supply and was trying around 9 volts.

I have a pic of a single diode...where to put pos and neg terminals to light it up?

Pic of middle of strip..is this where i light the entire strip?

And pic of end...or does this light the entire strip?

Where to put pos and neg for single diode..multiple diodes and the entire...

What to do with bad LED strips?

I suspect a lot of you have done a lot of repairs and end up with a lot of bad LED strips...what do you do with them?

Wonder if I should get a pile of LED chips and try to replace the bad units for the heck of it, but I don't really need the strips at the moment because I bought the strips...

Oh... and I think I got my TV working again, though not 100% I don't think, on a white screen I can see a bit of the ghost of the LED strips, must have done something wrong or the LED strips aren't quite the same as the original...

                                          Hi guys,
I have one very old TV.
Main problem I have with this tv is that led strips won't light.
I measured voltage levels, and inverter input is 24V.
                                          other voltages are also ok.
What I found is that removing and connecting again connector CN1 led strips lights for shorts time (but only once). When led strips lights up then light is uniformly spread on whole panel.
First I thought that led strips are dead, but I'm quite sure that problem is not strips related.
I don't know what voltage level is at output of inverter board (samsung SSL400_3E2A) and how...
