    Broken LED TV? Vizio M50-C1

I have a Vizio M50-C1 and initially, saw the back lights turn on but saw nothing on the screen. I went through the process of replacing
    -Power Supply Board
    -T-Con Board
    -Main Board

Nothing changed. Lastly, I replaced the LED Driver board and I at least now have some type of picture but it still doesn't show picture properly. What am I over looking?

Put back in your original Main and T-CON Bds. Looks like mis-match in softwares, to me.

I feel like an idiot but when you had me look at the t-con board I noticed the 2 t-con ribbon cables weren't secured in to the board. I latched them in and turned back on the TV. I actually saw a fairly OK image but it still was not 100% clear.

I then matched up the old t-con board and main and received the attached image. I then put in both the new t-con and main, same thing. I then tried to do old main and new t-con, same. I was so close but now can't seem to get back to where I was earlier with seeing any image.

Attached is what I see now when I turn the TV on. Any ideas?

Did you put ribbon cables in there original positions.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Also, I tested the 14 VGA test pins above the left ribbon cable with a DC meter and they all came back as:

            New board - 3.3
            Old board - 2.5

Those ribbon cables do not look as though they are fully inserted.
You lift the black plastic tab up carefully with your finger nail and then fully insert the ribbon before closing the black plastic tab back down.
Do with care and don't use force or the black plastic securing tab could break off.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Don't understand your vga readings. Each one should read different.

I agree with Dick.... those cables don't look seated properly. They look like someone tried to force them in without "delatching" the clamp down. The corner side "guides" should be further in when properly seated.

+100 Hope you didn't damage the cables' fingertips that make the connection.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Assuming...

                      by Hakuu
                      Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                      by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
