    SONY KDL46Z4100 Dim image

    The display on this TV looks like it's suffering from either low back light or brightness. With both controls set to max the image is dark and biased to the red. I've read the several threads on this model and although i initially suspected the backlight I can't rule out the T-con but I'm not seeing any of the artifacts shown in the photos other than the dark image. Since the backlight is integrated in the panel i was thinking of replacing the backlight driver board. I also have the equipment to change out the AS15 on the T-con if needed but thought I would ask if there were any other ideas before I start down that road?

          On my list of todo's. I need some help to take it down stairs into my shop. Hopefully in a day or two. Getting old is a PITA!

                  Here is a picture, I wish it was more representative of what I'm seeing. The actual picture is darker with a dark shading around the borders. The backlight,brightness and picture controls are at maximum. When you back off the controls the image is redder.

                      Hello everyone,

                      I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

                      Hi,

                      i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
                      Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
                      If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
                      Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
                      With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.

                      Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
                      Or is it always a bad/shorted...

                      I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
                      It flashes 4x.
                      I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

                      Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

                      My son's gaming monitor started having rolling image (vertical roll - See Video) similar to vertical sync issue, or T-CON problems in TVs. Has anyone see this? is it fixable or a throw away?
                      I haven't even opened it up yet. Does it have a T-CON? Help is appreciated.
                      It does this even with the monitor not connected to a computer / graphics card....

                      at tv KD - 65XF9005 i have a problem.
                      Afrer a coupe of minutes (10-30) i got black screen, no image. But i have sound.

                      is this a common problem for this tv?

                      i attached pictures of inside. Supply board looks okey, no blowed caps....
