Samsung LE37M86BD Streaky Picture similar to screen burn

    Hi guys

Could anyone recommend me where to start looking for this fault?

The Samsung has what I can only describe as a streaky picture - see photos

There is some vertical banding type patterning which is a bit hard to describe and doesn't photo to clearly.

Also menu items leave a ghost image when the menu is removed - it looks a bit like screen burn but the menu isn't there long enough to cause that and after a little while it fades, or if I display another menu it creates a ghost of that image instead. Haven't tried a video source yet but there is obviously something wrong - also the screen background level is varying up and down on it's own so the blacks sometimes look grey, like the brightness turned up too high and the contrast turned too low on a CRT TV.... and there is a background flicker as well

I hope these photos show what I mean - for example you can see a ghost of the 'slider' menu graphics when I change the menu to another page, but then after displaying a different page the ghost image changes to whatever was displayed most recently.

What does a moving picture do?
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Will try a moving image on this tomorrow and post the results

Actually after posting this thread I started to read this one

          https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=25810

And realised straight away this could be a TCON problem. Not that I knew what a TCON was until reading the pdf

I'm sure with the help from here I will get somewhere, or learn something

            OK here are some videos

There are some strange video artifacts on the screen, for example on the video where 'Mateo' runs in from the left of screen and also on some faces from time to time

I am no expert on these kind of faults, or any for that matter. Some pictures of t-con. I would be checking voltages off of t-con

                        Hi guys
The owner of this TV decided it wasn't worth fixing, and took it back, so we are not going to get the opportunity to play with this one further

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
                          by ttmi100x
                          Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

                          Upon closer inspection...

                          by howardc64
Eventually discovered a burn mark near lower corner of LCD. Here is a summary
                          • Backlight on, no image
                          • Disconnect right buffer board (view from front), left side display comes on
                          • Masked off pin 7+8 (both ~12,5v on both left and right buffer board) from t-con to right buffer board (view from front) display works but have some lines
                          • Buffer board is pretty simple
Removed the front bezel to examine edge of the glass. Found burn mark on lower right (view from front). Plastic bezel covering the burn mark region shows heat signature on the inside surface facing the LCD panel. Last 2 pics. Bright...

                          Hello,

So I was referred here when I made this poste over on AVForums: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/loc...lg-tv.3257234/

To summarize, this is a commercial TV and I can't get a menu of any kind. I know the overlay is working because when I change channel, adjust volume, turn on sleep timer I do see text. But I have not ever seen the user menu nor the installers menu. I've tried a bunch of remotes(more info on the AVF post) and tried every button...

                          Hello everyone,

I got a 58pus7805 that shows some weird behavior.
The menu and remote work fine and the picture is looking crisp and flawless while navigating the menu.
However, when a video source is displayed the screen either goes solid green (HDMI), solid black (SAT TV) or shows some fragments on mostly green background (AVI Playback from USB).

I tried to reinstall the firmware through the menu which was rejected saying it already had the latest version.
I managed to install the latest official firmware by holding the control button while plugging...
