    samsung ps-r4212 wont turn on

    power supply: BN96-02213B (PSPF381A01A)
    I have 5v standby
and I have 160V at the second fuse, which means PFC is working right?

    stby 5v - 4.93V
    ps-on is 4.49V
    d12V - .734V
    d5.3V- .669V
    18V- .633V
    A12V - .735V
    6.5V- 662V
I'm not sure if all those voltages are supposed to be present during standby

ps-on does nothing when I press the power button
    power button connector:
    5v - 4.9V
power- 2.358V -0V/short to ground when button is pressed, normal?
IR- 3.546V -fluctuates when I press remote

    Suggestions please
ive searched for schematics but cant find any.
I have cap and esr meter. some caps are under value but all pretty much with in %10 range

If ps-on has voltage in standby it will have to be pulled low to turn on power supply. 160v is good for standby voltage. Should go up to 380v or so when powered on.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Iif absolutely nothing happens when turn on activated then main board suspect. See other recent posts re isolating main and power boards and jumper powerboard on.

Right, ive seen where I can force the ps_on low with a resistor from there to ground

but shouldnt I get some kind of reaction when I press the power button? the PS_ON voltage doesn't come down when I press the button does this indicate that theres something wrong the logic board or the power button?

so all those other connections with <1V, should they be present in stand by? or only when ps is on? obviously I know VA and VS wont be on.

You should always have a voltage in standby. You may or may not have other voltages depending on design until the mainboard switches them on. If you probe your button connector at mainboard you should have some voltages usually 3.3v one or two should change voltage when buttons pressed

Normally you can turn set on from standby with either remote or set switch and if neither gives any reaction at pson then main board is suspect. You need to do the actual test to find out if main is ok or not.

in the OP I posted the voltages of the power button connector. theres no other buttons but the power and IR.
the power button connects to the main board.

I measured the voltage when I pressed the button and it went from 2.358V to 0V. I tested the button with no power at all and when its pressed it shorts to ground. is that normal?

Welp I forced the power supply on (first time doing that, pretty exciting)

Relay clicked and I got my voltages! VA was on point. VS had no power because I didn't want to mess with forcing that too.

any suggestion for what to look for on the main board?

Difficult without schematics. May have a fuse or two. Might be able to find some chip numbers and specs for them. Look for possible repair kit for it. No other ideas.

Even the professionals only work down to board levels these days. Without or even with a schematic it is hard to trace what is where. On the main board from the pson connector point look for obvious problems and test components as best possible back to standby voltage. Or if you can get a main board at a reasonable price ??

Thanks, il see what I can do.
this tv is over 10 years old not worth putting money into it. shop jimmy had the PS board for 24$ but didn't have the main board. it was listed at like 80$
