    Line on LG Plasma 50PZ550T

    Hi,
This is my first thread post. Hope this is going into the right section.

My LG Plasma recently developed a pixely line down the centre of the screen. The TV is about 5 years old never any problems until I turned it on to find this line. Its had it for a few months now. Started small and ended up getting bigger. I have no receipt for this and so decided to fix it myself.

I found a forum thread through google, by Tom66 who describes in great detail trouble shooting common plasma problems. (www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18542)

It looked to me that I may have a sparklies problem. So i followed the instructions given and checked the voltages for the Va and Vs. These were different from what is given on the sticker inside the TV. I eventually located the adjusters for these and set them according to the stickers. The line did infact get better. I was beginning to get very excited that this would be sorted in no time.....
    I was wrong.....
I followed on and checked the voltage on the VZB Resistor and adjusted this also according the sticker. The line again got better

Now I need to take a voltage reading for VY and VSC on the YSUS. The problem being that when I test the voltage along what i think is the correct resistors, the values Im getting are constantly changing!?!?
When I tested the VZB at the resistor the voltage was constant and allowed me to adjust but for the VY and VSC the readout is changing before returning to nothing.

Can anybody help with this? Do i need to measure these resistors differently using my multimeter? Am I at the wrong test points? Are these even the problem at all?

If i turn the VY and VSC all the way down the line disappears altogether on dark screen but is noticeable on a light screen. There are also adjusters for SETUP and SETON whatever these are.

I have attached some photos for reference.

Panel failed, nothing you can do but sell the boards then give the panel a good punch.

      Panel as in the screen?
Thought this would have been the case

Before you try anything else, is the meter auto ranging? If so, set the range untilthe reading stabilizes. Also make SURE YOU DO NOT TOUCH THE METAL OF THE PROBES WITH YOUR FINGERS. On high value resistors, this will make the reading go all over the place.

To explain this, let's say the resistor is 1M (1000000 ohms), and the human body between your two fingers is 600K (600000 ohms), this will effect the reading as the meter will see this as two resistors in parallel.
          Popcorn.

Not sure if it is auto ranging or not. I had it set to 600v DC to measure the rest of the voltages. whist on the same setting when i try the VY and VSC resistors the values just go a bit haywire, flash to different values and then back to 1 which it sits at. I could get you a pic of the multimeter and the reading if needed

Pics are always helpful, even though this does seem like a bad display, I'm not sure, I know with Dells they tend to do random things like this and die randomly, but with LG I'm not sure.

Tried to get a pic for this but the values are changing too iradically. Basically it stops on 1 for a value. I looked this up in the manual for my multimeter and it just says that a value of 1 usually means the range is to high for the multimeter too handle.

                            Hi to all,

I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.

I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.

Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...

                            by canadaboy25
Hey guys, I'm being offered an LG 50PG10 plasma with a vertical line running down the screen.

Apparently, if you give the TV a good smack on the frame above the line, it will go away for a while.

Does this sound like a bad solder joint or loose ribbon cable? Or a bad panel? If it's not likely to be a bad panel I will likely pick it up.

                            What do you guys think?

                            Thanks...

                            Kogan - KALED65XU9220STB - Blue Vertical Line
                            by TrueSword88
                            Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.

                            Hoping to fix...

Running Line Voltage and Integrating LED Pods - Automotive
                            by FALKLAN
Howdy everyone! I hope all is well where ever you are!

I'm attempting to integrate a couple of LED pods into an automotive reverse lamp circuit. The problem being, while the vehicle is running there is a 8.5v current present on the reverse lamp power wire. Needless to say is that all LED pods and lights dimly illuminate while the 8.5v is present, so the LEDs are always powered on while the vehicle is running. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the voltage changes to 12 volts.

I am uncertain how to convert this line into a switched 12v output line for the LED pods....
