SONY KDL40EX503 - firmware / sourcing compatible main board

Thanks to budm, dick_barton and ReeceyBurger123 in helping previously with mainboard diagnosis on this.

Finding a compatible replacement main board with all the matching numbers is proving very difficult.

Might it be a case of finding one close to it then updating firmware (which I've found on the sony eu site)?

Here're the board and panel details:
    Main board: 1-881-636-23
    Sticker on main board: Y2008850J ; 158661; REV 106; SOFT 4085
    Panel: LTU400HF02

    Any assistance hugely appreciated.

Re: SONY KDL40EX503 - firmware / sourcing compatible main board

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Could I use a main board that's close and update to the right firmware?
    eg.
1-881-636-22 with matching model # and screen

Or perhaps use a matching board with matching screen but one model up eg KDL-40EX710

Would really appreciate any insights into sony board compatibility.

    Thanks in advance.

      Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
      by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
      CN6401
      Pin 01 NC
      Pin 02 NC
      Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
      Pin 04 "N/C"
      Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
      Pin 06 "GND": N/C
      Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

Sony RB2G Chassis KDL-55W815B MAIN BOARD 2 Blink Error issue resolved! Happy days :)
      by cheeky2
For anyone interested just repaired this Sony Main board TV that had a 2 blink error code, the chassis is a RB2G which is common to quite a few different Sony models. The Ceramic 10uF 25V X7R 1206 capacitor C9114 was shorted which took the smd 2A 0603 fuse out F9101. This was powering the Buck converter TPS54332 which caused no 5V output from it.
See the attached picture of the locations of both components. I also attach the best service manual I found for this board for anyone else in a similar position of trying to repair this main board. It's not specific to the TV model however it gives...

SONY KDL-65w850c need latest firmware 6.827
      by AlexWhat
In 2022 SONY did "Termination of TV Software Update" for this model.
I did find older firmware but it can't be installed over newer one (rolled back)
Yes, got boot loop during android load so if that will not work then EMMC has to be replaced, I think.

      Sony KDL-46HX850 Can't upgrade/update firmware
      by dkneyle
Diagnosed this TV as having a failed main board which I've replaced with one from a KDL 55HX850. They are (supposedly) the same board.

Being 'Smart TV' it requires a firmware reboot when you swap out boards such as T-Con or main board. It starts with a black screen and flashing yellow and green LEDS, indicating it needs that firmware boot. The procedure described all over the web is to put the software into the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB drive and it should load that up once plugged into USB1 port. But not for me. I can see the LED on the USB chip flash for about...
