Re: SONY KDL40EX503 - firmware / sourcing compatible main board
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Could I use a main board that's close and update to the right firmware?
eg.
1-881-636-22 with matching model # and screen
Or perhaps use a matching board with matching screen but one model up eg KDL-40EX710
Would really appreciate any insights into sony board compatibility.
Thanks in advance.Re: SONY KDL40EX503 - firmware / sourcing compatible main board

SONY KDL40EX503 - firmware / sourcing compatible main board
Thanks to budm, dick_barton and ReeceyBurger123 in helping previously with mainboard diagnosis on this.
Finding a compatible replacement main board with all the matching numbers is proving very difficult.
Might it be a case of finding one close to it then updating firmware (which I've found on the sony eu site)?
Here're the board and panel details:
Main board: 1-881-636-23
Sticker on main board: Y2008850J ; 158661; REV 106; SOFT 4085
Panel: LTU400HF02
Any assistance hugely appreciated.

Thanks for your reply budm, so would this be easily traceable / fixable? - or a case of sourcing a new board? - I have a DMM and reasonable soldering skill. used (tested) board around the £40 / $50 mark.
(i'm thinking board)
Cheers...

SONY KDL40EX503 - blank screen, green constant power led
Hi everyone, amazing forum, smart people… this is my first post so be gentle:
The set is 4.5 yrs old, been kept in decent clean condition and used most days.
Any guidance as to my next step would be most appreciated.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi everyone, pleased to be aboard. I'm a diy enthusiast i guess...
I enjoy...
Maintaining and fixing my modest collection of bmws, i used to do a lot of home electronics when i was a teen..
I love...
music and adore high fidelity. I run a raspberry pi distributed music network at home (sort of diy sonos).
I hate...
Throwing kit away and get a very righteous and satisfied feeling when i fix stuff.
I wish...
Manufacturers would make their stuff...
