Picked this one up for next to nothing..Owner was told that issue was display panel. Supposedly someone took it to a tech who replaced a board, said TV worked but new board was running hot so they faulted the panel. Going to open it up and check things out. More pics to come with some voltage measurements.

Re: SONY XBR-65X850A Panel
WOW! What a T-con board!
If anyone replaced anything, it was the T-con. The foil on the sides has been removed and re stuck and there is adhesive residue on a harness where tape was removed and put back a half inch down the harness. Nothing else looks like it has been disturbed.
From what I gathered.."a board" (not the A board per say)was replaced but removed because of heating up while working. But the set worked with the new board..they faulted the panel.
Thanks for your time ReeceyComment

Re: SONY XBR-65X850A Panel
Yes, it is an early 4K. What I was told was that a tech replaced one of the boards and the TV worked normally. They were concerned that whatever board was replaced was running too hot so supposedly, they reinstalled the old board and said the panel was bad. I do not know how much truth there is to that. I can tell you someone has removed the T-con from the way the foil tape on the cage that goes over it was re-installed.
My experience with 4K thus far has been one smps that was bad and one "enhancement board" which I think is called an A board? It was obvious on both where the source of the heat was.

Re: SONY XBR-65X850A Panel
Yeah I would say replace the Tcon looks like one of the gamma reference drivers has failed causing the panel not to be driven correctly. Please Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only. Anyone Doing So Will Be Banned Instantly !

Re: SONY XBR-65X850A Panel
I will post results when parts arrive. Reecey, as always, I appreciate your input. Hard for me to believe a set of this caliber and age has a bad panel. Less than 3 yrs old, low usage, was in climate controlled storage for over 18 months. Previous owner stated that he had Best Buy (of all people) come and "calibrate" this set. Within 6 months it failed. May be no correlation, but just seems like a coincidence.Comment

Re: SONY XBR-65X850A Panel
Replaced T-con with a module from Tristatemodule..Set is working normally. After 30 min. the larger ICs on the T-con were warm to the touch..not hot, but warm. Temp in my shop at the time was around 50F. Buttoned it up and ran it for several hours...no issues. Do those T-con ICs typically run warm?
Thanks

by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
by jb_BakHey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.
Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:

by advantThis thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.
I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match... - Loading...
