Greetings folks, would like a bit of advice on this Sony KDL-32U4000 which I think has a bad T-con board or more specifically a failed gamma IC. The symptoms are what you see in the first picture I've attached: the colours are off (actually more so than they appear in the pictures - "solarized" picture as it's called) and the picture is slow to "refresh", that is, when something moves or disappears, be it a menu or in the case of my tests the mouse cursor, it leaves behind "ghosts" that take a few seconds to disappear. If the picture is still then it's unnoticeable, but what good is a TV on which you can't view moving images ? :| The T-con board is a 320WTC2LV8.4. Rather than replacing the gamma IC (which is a goose chase in its own, since I'm not entirely sure which one it is) I decided to find the whole board and I did find something on an auction site, but it's advertised as coming out of a KDL-32v4500 TV while mine is a KDL-32U4000 (no, it's not a typo - that one is a V and mine is an U). What made me consider this is that the boards are the same (320WTC2LV8.4) with the exception of some of the markings on them (just take a look at the pictures), but the models of the TVs differ. Don't know if you can see it too well, but to the right of the LVDS connector, there's a small square with a digit inside it - my board has a 4 and his board has a 7, just so you can tell them apart. Are T-con boards "coded" somehow to match a specific panel ? Will this board still work on the U model ? It's not very cheap, so I wouldn't want to waste money on it. Cheers.

As far as what I can see, they are alike physically. However. the eeprom may have different software to match the different screen model Nos. -

There is an eeprom on the T-CON Bd...that is the one to exchange....Although there is another eeprom on the Main Bd...but that one seems to be OK.Last edited by Andrew F. Ali; 11-22-2016, 02:20 PM.Comment

"320WTC2LV8.4." is the BLANK PCB P/N which can be stuffed many different ways to make many PCBA for different LCD Models, the numbers on the barcode are for the PCBA.Never stop learning

...and seeing how those bar codes do not match, it's almost certain it won't work. Another difference I spotted is that the "donor" TV has a single missing pin on the LVDS connector starting from right to left, whereas mine has 2 missing ones. As for the panel model, the ad for the parts TV (the V model) shows a sticker which reads "KDL-32v4500 E", so perhaps the panel model is the same as the TV model ? No, it's not the sticker on the back cover - it's clearly slapped onto a metal frame, so it's inside the cabinet. I can't really tell if there are other stickers to look at, since I don't have the TV on hand right now and the ad doesn't state any models either. Perhaps the EEPROM idea is feasible after all...makes sense at least.Wattevah...Comment

by HakuuHi There,
This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.
After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by m1ch43lzmHi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic... -
by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Made a mistake and ordered the wrong TCON board to replace in my KDL-46HX823, the board I ordered was Sony PLY 1-883-893-11 which is sort of correct.
But later realized this board is used in 4 or 5 models, any way the one i got sent was for KDL-55HX820.
Physically these boards are identical, everything on the board is the same. I havent put this board into the TV yet, but am I right in saying all i would have to do is copy the Epprom from my faulty board and transfere it on to the new board, or is there still something else that may stop this working.... - Loading...
