So cleaning that tab fixed the solarization? Just when I think I'm starting to catch on that t-con and solarization go together this stuff happens.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Yes I initially thought it was solarization so changed the Tcon but unfortunately no difference.

Then heated the BGA chip on the mainboard but ended up frying it. Replaced the mainboard and annoyingly absolutely no difference.

Finally decided to look at the tabs and post#16 picture shows what I found. That tab was in line with the feint line running vertically down the screen. Looked like and felt like marmite.

Since it has been cleaned the set has worked flawlessly.

How did it get there? Could this be a "problem" from the factory? I see alot of these sets with distorted pictures.....

Maybe the same guy thats responsible for the 7 blinkers on 2011 models....

The panel tabs are at the bottom of the set. The house where I picked up the set did have a young child and I reckon it was probably sticky hands on the lcd panel that when wiped off run down between the panel and plastic enclosure. But just guess work.

I don't recall any blinking of the front panel leds.
