Once you get the LCD panel, then I would search the net for 'LED BACKLIGHTS for xxxx' that model to see what comes up.

Thanks, you all have been a big help. I'll give it a go and see what I find. I need to devise a way to carefully lift a 55in. Piece of thin glass without it flexing to the point of breaking. The video the guy just lifted it off, but mine will be quite a bit larger.

It is no more complicated than swapping out a CCFL lamp in the older CCFL LCD TVs. A major pain in the behind to be honest, but take it slow and you're going to come out victorious. Just be careful when you lift the TFT screen itself, as that's a BIG sheet of glass right there.

You can do this is reverse by putting the set FACE DOWN and lifting the backlight assembly off the screen instead of the other way round.

Yeah, just make sure you clean up beforehand, you don't want any dust getting into the panel.

Yup. I cover mine in fresh garbage bags until I'm ready for reassembly.

Ok opened it up , Lcd panel # is LC550EUE. BUT I can't seem to find the backlight strips for sale anywhere. ShopJimmy.com has 2 strips listed (but out of stock) However it has SEF1 following the above listed part # so I'm not sure if it's the right one. Here is a pic of the panel label, maybe someone can help me find the LED assemblies.

Do you have pictures of the led strip and the numbers given on them.

No I was under the impression I could order the LEDs with the lcd panel #. I reassembled the TV so I can use it until I have the parts. While it seems the parts are nearly impossible to find I may just have to buy a new TV. It works fine except for the shadow ,but I can't stand looking at it. I can find leds for dang near every tv ever made except this one. If I completely disassemble the TV and get to the leds I will be out of a TV for days to months until I find parts...kinda stuck I guess.

Price doesn't look to bad if you want to change the entire strip.

i wonder if its worth looking on aliexpress.com for replacement leds? and just changing whats gone and have some spares? depends if cgreen can change them or knows somebody who can.

Maybe something like this but i have no idea of the size or volts used

I saw those on ebay but wast sure if they were the right ones, or if that was the left or right side....or if it even matters.
I know my next tv will not be a lg, this one is only a couple years old. Nothing lasts long anymore.

Good advice, I emailed the guy and he said it was the right side . He also emailed me a good close up of the part number on the leds. So here I go tearing down the TV again to make sure before ordering.

I got it completely disassembled, managed to successfully remove the lcd without breaking it. I found a complete set of leds on ebay, with matching part #s. It lists for a different tv model but the actual led assemblies have matching part #s. Got both sides for $79 with free shipping. Thanks for all the help guys, now to wait on the delivery guy.

You should be able to remove the strips and run them to see if all LEDS are on or not.
