    Go to http://www.toms-service-manuals.com
Go there and choose Samsung for the brand. You should find a fast track for this model to help you troubleshoot it.

measure all the pins on CNM801. Post back the pin name with the voltages measured.

Verify that you have STBY (5V) voltage. If you do, but get nothing back on the PSon and BLUon pins, you may have a main board problem.

Get the Service manual from posted above and look at the "power on sequence" and "to force the backlight on".

took base unit apart - blown main fuse. replaced it, blows when 110V applied. disconnected base from display screen - base unit turns on with new fuse. connect display screen, main fuse blows. bad display screen ??

t-con board is located on back on display screen along with IR board & 3D board

will take apart display screen to get shot of TCON bd

Post some high resolution, straight shot pictures of YOUR boards. So we have something to see.

Can you explain that any better what happened?

"took base unit apart - blown main fuse. replaced it, blows when 110V applied."
This sounds like something is wrong in the primary circuit of the power supply.

"disconnected base from display screen - base unit turns on with new fuse."
Contradicts the first sentence, because I thought the fuse in the primary just blows as soon as you plug it in.

We really need to clearly eliminate one thing after the other. That's why I asked specific questions on my post #3.

For now, I just want you to disconnect the main board from the PSU, leave the backlights connected, jump PSon to STBY and plug the set in.
The power supply should turn on and the backlights should light up. If all this is good, measure each pin (look post #3) on that connector and post it with the corresponding pin out name.

got tv DEAD. I took apart base (has most of the electronics are in it) and found blown main FUSE. replaced it and fuse blew again.
disconnected base from display screen, replaced main fuse and then base unit powered up. has stdby 5V. If I connect base back to display screen - main fuse blows. I will take some voltage measurements of base unit tonght. guessing TCON board must be loading down power supply. can't find service manual for this set either

Read my posts again on what exact tests I wanted you to do. This will give us answers, and we can proceed further. The rest is just stabbing randomly around, like just throwing parts at it until it works.

Fair play Samsung cramming that in there, please tell me its fan cooled ? Also the Tcon wont be blowing the mains fuse. Listen to what CL says.

Haven't followed your directions on posts yet. I disconnected all connections to docking board - plugged docking board in and powered up - main fuse blows. Before this the main base unit was powering up and working without display screen (which includes docking board) plugged in. I assuming the docking board is bad. anybody have any experience with these ?? Are they repairable ?? or just replace - saw a couple on EBAY. thanks

did you at least verify if there is actually something shorted on that docking board?

bought new docking board - same result. nothing attached to docking board and the main fuse blows. NO schematic available = total guessing in the dark on this set. Would the docking board draw excessive current if the LEDS and TCON BD are not attached ??
