Sharp Aquos 37" RED blinking power light

    Hi Gurus,
    I hope you can help
    I have a SHARP 37"Aquos LC-37G2x with a TU-37G2X AVC.
It was dad's and was in storage (cool n dry) for a while after he passed away.
I decided to rescue it from the dark and set it up downstairs.
All good worked fine last week with a Digital set top box connected via Component input.

Yesterday, I went to hook up a Raspberry Pi to it and prior to connection the RED power light was blinking steadily on the panel. When i used the remote to power on, the power light goes from RED to GREEN - relays in the panel click the the power light goes back to red. No backlighting occurs.
So, i try to power on via the AVC box and same result.

Now i disconnect all inputs - same result - here's the kicker, I disconnect the factory cable from the OUTPUT-2 socket (as pictured) on the AVC and power up. The panel springs to life and cooling fans whirr in the panel and a info box is displayed on the panel (screen) "Loss of Sync". As soon as I re-attach the Output 2 plug the panel turns off and goes back to red blinking light.

Any ideas? Is it in sleep mode?
I have tried as many soft re-boots as i could find on the 'net - Also AVC has 2 hard reset buttons which i have tried to no avail. Am I missing something?

The picture was still awesome last week for a tv of its age and hope with your help we can get it running again

    Cheers

Can you and have you connected the box to any other set. Eg S-video output to another set?
Can you try the DVI output by using a DVI to VGA adapter.

      Hi Dick_Barton

i have re-tried connecting the digital set top box to the AVC unit. to no avail.
I do remember (which i forgot to mention in the OP) is that I think i have made an adjustment to one of the sleep settings in the TV menu -Mode 2 i think- I wonder if this is the cause.
I have also connected the set top box through the DVI-D input (HDMI Adaptor)

The Panel will not function without the AVC media box (TU-37GAX) and by that i mean allowing to call up menu's etc.

Oh, i get it - I re-read your post.. I will try this tomorrow morning
Do you think i may have some form of menu access?

Will let you know how i go...

      Cheers

I am unfamiliar with the set. Just thinking tha since there are other outputs why not try them.

Tried the DVI- output to a computer monitor to try and 'trick' it into life.
          no dice
There must be something in the output #2 cable that senses the display status?

Does anyone know if a steady blinking RED power light is an error code or is it in sleep mode?

I downloaded the owners manual, It seems to suggest there are 3 system cables that connect the av unit to the display?

              Yes RJ, Correct

Display Output One is the Digital signal (DVI style plug) The other seems to hold all the data signal or comms (output 2) and Display Output3 must be the analog video signals (Composite, Component & SVideo)

I think your having a problem with the setup box. TV turns on without the box and gives the signal that it can't find the box.

Can you try to use the tv as a monitor? For example connect it to a hd receiver/computer etc and see if it works?
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!
