Re: Panasonic TGP55VT30 with 8 blinks

Actually the service manual says that the 7 blinks (my original problem) is an SD or SU board problem, not an SC board problem. I recall that I saw a video saying that the 7 blinks were a SC board problem. That's why I bought a new SC board.

I can scroll through the service menu but I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
I think that means you have a 50" version board. Do you have the original still? Photos of both? I have this feeling I've read before with wrong versions causing image issues but I will have to do some research

Re: Panasonic TGP55VT30 with 8 blinks

I had a semi break through. After running the self test and turning the tv off, I turned it back on and it started with the startup menu like it was being turned on for the first time. However, the colors were grainy and when I selected an hdmi input with a picture (DirecTV tuner) the image was bright and washed out so I turned it off immediately so as not to have something burn out again. Any advice?

I still bave the original SC board but I cut off a bunch of caps thinking they were the cause of the short. Since then I've learned that the igbts or fets are usually shorted. Crap.

The service manual is not very clear on which 5335 suffix is the right one or if it even matters. I wonder if anyone has an "BA" version or what the difference might be. Supposedly I have a 90 day warranty on the board I bought but I would be surprised if anyone would take it back, unless they had a way to test it. I appreciate the help.

Hey, utee, you still reading this? I don't think the A board is the problem but who knows.

which is why I'm asking for some images. if you have not totally stuffed the old board and solder the caps back in and replace 6 IGBTs it'll probably work again but it's unfortunate I guess because the advice I'd give would be repair of the old board as i suspect the replacement was an expensive exercise.

It's not too late to rebuild the old one, it would be interesting if the current situation continue to exist with the original board repaired but if the TV was fine and went 7 blinks bad SC and know new fault, having the incorrect version maybe an issue but I need images to help

You can't use the version BG, it's for the 50 " and there are some noticeable differences in the parts used and the cct for your model.

The BG was not used in the US market as far as I know but should be equivalent to AJ or BJ versions.

You will need to get TNPA5335BA, TNPA5335BK, TXNSC1NVUU,TNPA5335(no suffix)

sell the wrong board, repair the old one, avoid 30F131 IGBTs from china

Based on what you've done, it may turn out the OP may have used the wrong board too if the symptoms are the same.

                      If thats a board from a 50 now in a 55, you'll have troubles.

You need to change over all the ERC components,--the coils and caps from the old boad to the new. Ive done this a few times on various SC, and the combo PSU SS boards with complete success.

                      The suffix is all important!

Hi tw2005. Where are you getting the part number suffix info on the 5335 board? Based on your input, I am going to try to return the BG board and see if the guy has a BA version. I still do have the old board but will have to see if I still have the caps I cut off. And get a repair kit.

On both boards , how many BIG capacitors do you have? Can you post pictures of both boards? As i said there is a difference in AB / BA / AH model boards.....

Ps , caps on Panasonic plasma's almost never fail.

Ps , dont buy a repair kit but buy the parts from mouser. Search for "7 blinks" on this forum , there is a thread with ALOT of pages...check the last pages. Alot of fake components ...especially 30F131

I will get pix of the old and new boards later today. There were 4 large aluminum caps (which I still have) but I also cut out a mylar one and an SMT one which I don't think I saved.

near ic724 and in the area of the sc46, sc50 connectors there are a bunch of parts and ICs missing on your original board.

on the 50" boards these are populated. In a nutshell this means the circuits and the way these are driven are different and why we have this unusual result.

I'm very sure somewhere within this forum someone else has discovered this trying a different board in error.

Here is a picture of the old (BA) and new (BG) boards. The old one has the caps removed and a slightly bunged up connector. I do not see a difference in the parts layout.

Okay I see the extra parts. Thanks for that. I guess my next step is to return my BG board and get a BA board or parts for my old board. I tried shop jimmy but they are out of BA boards. A place called PTS might have one for $95.
