    T862++ IRDA Welder

Does anyone use the above station who can offer advice on it's use through their experience?

Temperature settings, lens distance from IC to be removed, times of heating for the removal/reflowing of various IC packages.

    Thanks

    Re: T862++ IRDA Welder

So it finally arrived and I have had a few days to test it out removing chips from damaged boards.
My conclusion is that although it looks as though it should do the job; it just doesn’t.

It has an adjustable heater baseplate which works well but that’s the only part of it that does.

The temperature settings for removing the IC's is user pre-set using the up/down temperature setting on the front panel and indicated on the LED display. This is not a closed loop system i.e. no feedback so the temperature appears to be regulated by the lamp being cycled on/off which it does when set between 240 – 250 degrees. When measuring the temperature, I found it to be about 40 degrees higher than it was set for.

Setting the temperature above 250 degrees there is no regulation of the heat, not even on/off cycles and the temperature at the IC level quickly climbs to in excess of 400 degrees.

It does allow for the removal of smaller IC’s which are not bonded to the board without too much difficulty. The tops of larger IC’s bubble up before they finally are removed from the board.

As you can tell by now I’m far from impressed with this product.

I have the T-862++ and I use it to un-solder or and solder all other SMD IC's except for BGA chips. yes there is no feedback system in place so you must monitor and time each process. I have an external temperature meter and a timer for this reason.

I monitor the temperature in Fahrenheit not in Celsius. And yes I have burn some IC's in the beginning, after you get the timing down you will be OK.

as for BGA chip, I have another unit for that, theT-870 which work great on BGA chip.

it's pretty obvious from the size of the heater that it's intended for mobile phone repair.
i hope some scumbag is not miss-selling this for large repairs like ps3 or laptops!

          Hello ecking767,
I have decided to keep it because it does remove the smaller IC's without difficulty but I'm finding the larger ones especially those with a solder ground plane underneath to be destroyed getting them off.

I totally agree with the need to monitor the temperature using an external temperature gauge which I have.

I am definately lacking the knowledge of themperature and time for the removal of various devices packages and I would be extremely grateful if you could offer some guidance on this.

Thanks you for your reply which was most helpful.

            Here's one advert for it.

              says it all - fuckers.
the pre-heater is supposed to heat the entire pcb to prevent warping, not just the part to lift!!!!

Reverse engineering of DoCreate DHJ567 handheld spot welder
                by spleenharvester
                Hello everyone

I attach a schematic and teardown photos for the DoCreate DHJ567 handheld spot welder. I bought this welder for temporary use while my supercapacitor welder was waiting for replacement parts. It cost only £24, though there is a screenless version available for £17.

Performance: The absolute maximum it can handle appears to be 0.15mm of pure nickel. Reliability was not great - welds were very inconsistent, ranging from weak attachment to burning through the strip. However, I was able to build a 5S2P pack without losing any cells. It's a bit difficult getting...

AcuRite 5 in 1 temperature sensor replacement repair
                by CapLeaker
                Got a new victim:

AcuRite 5 in 1 Iris outdoor weather station not updating the temperature / humidity anymore. The original sensor is a SHT21. Also there are identical other sensor manufacturers. I chose the HTU21D to replace the original SHT21. Both have identical specs. I've had two failure modes with these sensors.
A: outside temp stuck at -40? It's cold here at times in Canada, but not that cold!
B: stuck at some temperature and maybe updating once in 12 hrs or so.

Easy solution is to go to AcuRite website and purchase the sensor. Right?...

Is there any high current pouch battery that are size 60mmX80mm maximum thickness 21mm for a battery operated tab welder
                by sam_sam_sam
I have a battery operated tab welder and the battery does not have enough current for the battery tab welder because after about 30 welded it does not have the same current output it voltage has gone down by at least 0.500 volts or maybe a more than that

I can fit 21700 battery cells in the enclosure it is very tight fit for four of them that are 35 amp high current capacity 35X4=140 high current output this should work a lot better than what is installed right now

I tested the battery cells there are installed right now and they are testing good with no issues that I...

                ISL95880HRTZ desoldering temperature
                by Dreigas
                Hello,

I bought from China ISL95880HRTZ (3+1+1 Voltage Regulator with Expanded ICCMAX Register Range Supporting IMVP8 CFL/CNL CPUs) chip, which I think is not the original one, but anyway, I tried to resoldering it with a 380C hot air station. Seems soldering is pretty good, but the laptop doesn't work (it worked before, but still had some problems with power delivery).
Is there any big chance, that they sent me two fake ISL95880HRTZ chips or did I just use too big temperature for desoldering? I will try with another chip, but I can't find any info about the maximum desoldering...

                9V relay temperature 40C
                by jm1234
Hi, I'm seeing one 9V relay having temperature 40C on its 9V (primary) side. Does that seem right? I switched 2 relays on that board and the temperature was the same (on the same position), so I'm sure it's not a faulty relay. I measured voltage on that relay and it was 9.5V DC, so that looks good. I don't see any other relay on that board having that kind of temperature and they have 9V on them too.
I thought maybe the transistor that is switching this relay keeps switching on/off, so I also checked for AC and there was almost none: 0.3V using mV range. No steady frequency was shown, but...
