Panasonic A400 Series Led Tv 1 Red Blink Repair

I got this 42" real Panasonic chassis (not Vestel crap) Led Tv in which originally had one red blink error code after start up. After getting the Tv I was able to see that the BL fired on then shutdown briefly before the flashing Led.

I knew it had a failed Led on this one and the driver was shutting down sending the motherboard an error to display 1 red blink which is backlight fault on this model.

So I tore the Wistron Panel apart, which uses a Lg screen but custom backlight from the panel oem and found one bad Led which was visibly burnt and open. The Lcd is built into the frame, which on this one IMO is flimsier than Vestels custom VES panels they are more rugged than this tbh. Shame on you Panasonic ! Either way this beats a Vestel Led all day around as the actual Panasonic hardware is a good build and design and can last a good few years.

Anyway found one Led to be physically burnt, I didn't even bother testing the others I just replaced it. Usual D type failing, I replaced it with the stacking method repair using another 3v D type and upon trying the set it works now and the backlight stays on

Anyway after fixing the Led and seeing that the BL now works, I decided to improve it a little more. Them little connector houses which link the Led strips get easily corroded over time and break down causing no or intermittent BL so I bridged them over with solid wire to help the set last a good bit longer.

Next I signed it to show it was repaired by me, and sealed it up.

I always clean the Lcd screen before putting the frame back on as you can get more dirt off the edges easier with the frame off and it looks a lot better afterwards.

After getting it back together I then checked out the backlight brightness adjustment. Guess what set to 100% so them Leds were flat out for the whole time quote from LG about their Led backlighting "pushing device to maximum rating, may affect device reliability". Why the hell do people leave it like this ? Having it this high just looks horrible, the black level looks so washed out and the other images look washed out as well, its also blinding in a dark room.

I set the BL to 20% which is a lot less stress on them little buggers and the image is improved IMO and this thing will keep going for a lot longer hopefully and still perfectly bright.

Another one saved this one a lot nicer build than what I'm used of seeing

Btw I have currently fixed 79 Led backlights out of 434 Tv's so far which is crazy most less than 2 years of age !

Did the LED take out the trace with it? Is that why you bridged the repair?

Yes it did, so I bridged over it.
