Sony KDL-40S2010 Partial screen vertical lines

    Hi,

I have a Sony KDL-40S2010 with vertical lines on part of the screen. The TV was packaged and shipped with a lot of padding and when we opened the packaging and turned it on it looked like this (see attached pics). Maybe something was damaged or came loose during shipping. I have been reading about bad T-Con boards and wanted some advice before buying a replacement. The T-Con board that I would buy is here: http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-lj9...-con-board.htm.

Most of the T-Con symptoms I've been reading about affect either the entire screen or half of the screen. This TV has video and sound output and the lines are only on a small portion of the screen. I can get a T-Con and try it out but before I do I wanted to see if anyone could offer more specific advice since the symptoms don't exactly match that of a bad T-Con board and I'm not experienced enough to know what else it could be.

    I appreciate the help.

    Thanks

So just to double check, are there any connections to check on the tab drivers if I were to open the TV up? Shipping the TV most-likely caused whatever damage that has appeared unfortunately.

As its intermitent you might be able to get away with a tab bond repair. Take the screen apart and start pressing on the tabs see if it clears the fault if so will insturct further.

            Sony KDL-40V3000 - Vertical lines
            by gpo23
            Hello,

            i order a t-con because i had bad colors on my SONY KDL-40V3000 :

With the new t-con the color are good but there are vertical lines on all the screen :

I've tried the old t-con and it returned to the initial issue (bad colors but no vertical lines)

Is there a way to fix the vertical lines on the new t-con ?

            Thank you for your help

            Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
            by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

Sony XBR-85X950G Gray horizontal lines and vertical picture shift diagnosis?
            by noisykid
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

            Sony XBR-65X900H vertical lines
            by dustman1747
I have acquired a Sony XBR-65X900H to try and fix. It probably was a complete no power situation. The main board was replaced and the TV started turning on. I now have start sounds and backlights, but no image. I've replaced the t-con with no improvement. Cables all appear to be ok and seated properly. The TV took a firmware update and hard reset but neither helped.

Using the tape trick I can get both side to display combinations of colored vertical lines. There is no change in the stripes and the pattern always appears the same. If I add additional tape strips I can get the screen...
