Hi all. Please forgive me for my very limited knowledge, but was hoping for a little help. I have an LG PK790 plasma tv which doesnt work. When i turn the set on the red standby led turns to white, and the screen backlight seems to come on as screen turns grey, but nothing else. When i attempt to change channel the tv is registering the demans as the led flashes. I have replaced capacitors on my previous tv set as i could see they were blown as they were bulging and was hoping it would be as simple but evidently not. Cheers in advance

Re: LG 50PK790 wont turn on??
Look up on google how to preform Lg Plasma test patterns. Basically remove the Lvds from Mb to the control board, then bridge the auto gen pins together on the control board and turn the Tv on. If it worked the Tv will display test patterns. Please Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only. Re: LG 50PK790 wont turn on??
I'm afraid I don't know what's the ldvs are, and I haven't found a test pattern for my unit. It has a main brown motherboard in the centre, and A brown and green each side. When I turn the unit on, the screen lights up grey for a second and then goes black. I have unplugged both brown boards one at a time, when I unplug the left one I get no grey screen upon turn on, and when I unplug the right one I get almost what I can describe as a red rash across the screen? Still no display. I will upload some pics if that helps?Last edited by samcoaker; 05-04-2016, 12:47 PM.Comment

If you post an sharp image of the rear of your set showing the circuit boards then the various parts can be identified for you.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

by waakyeHi everyone,
I was giving this ASUS ROG G750JM that exhibit the following behavior:
When you press the power button, the computer turns with no image and turn it's off within 7 seconds. The battery charges when I connect the AC power. I tried flashing the bios with the uSB method and pressing Ctrl + Home and I can see the bios upgrade on external monitor.
My issue is the laptop doesn't stay on for a long time and turn itself off.
Any lead on how to resolve this will be appreciated.
I cannot boot in windows and no liquid damage.
Thanks in advance. -
by reessiHello:
I have both these laptops that appeared to have the same fault so I thought I would have a go at replacing the PCH as something to learn, they both are using the same PCH.
I started on the ACER:
Up on connecting power no signs of life but current is consumed from the bench power supply and the PCH is hot.
All the caps on the top of the PCH are showing 0 ohms and the 3.3v rail is shorted.
I followed the videos from Sorin, Electronics Repair School on Youtube heating from the bottom to install. I practised on around 10 scrap... -
by gabrielA7Does not turn on, lights 3 of the 4 LEDs and turns off and stays like this, presses the power and repeats.
I saw that the room LED lights up only when the screen is connected, so quiet.
We have all the power supplies, even processor, 1.8V
One thing I found strange, it has a very low resistance in the Vcore is giving 1 Ohm , work with notes and such, I know that this is normal in some processors but with this resistance only take video card so found it strange.
I suspect that there may be some leak in the processor.
Anyway, when I press the power, it... -
by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
by pajdekHello, i have some issues with my laptop Lenovo Y700-17ISK (motherboard BY511 NM-A541), it started when i turn on the laptop, but the lcd wont turn on, i then connected it via hdmi to tv and screen was ok. Conncted power supply and tuned on my laptop, the lcd turn on, it started to load os, then it turn off, after a second it turn on, then after like 3 seconds turn off again, and so on.
