    Polar / Bi-Polar Caps

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the stupid question in advance.

Will there there be firework if a polar cap was replaced by a bi-polar cap?

    Thank you for your input.

Yes it should be o.k. I did some checking and I thought it might not work but it should be fine.

it shouldnt, the bad shit would be if you used a regular lytic to replace a bipolar.

I’d accidently order (25v 47uf bi-polar) from Digikey, instead of polar, which was what was on the board off of Elo ET15522L touch screen monitor.

          +1
Just look at it this way, lets say you have 1uf Electrolytics cap, you can put in 1uF Metal film which is non-polar cap and it will work but the size of the MF cap will be so much bigger.

It should be OK, but beware that most bipolar caps do not have low ESR, so may not always be suitable in place of polar capacitors.
