Re: How To Repair Led Backlight Strips Video !
Out of urgency, I just figured a very easy way to use another LED from the TV without having to do surface mount solder work or even detach the lens!!! (Sorry I didn't take pics, I already got the TV together)
MAKE LED MINI STRIPS!!!!
Just use a dremel to cut the LED strip board just past each side of the LED and (1.25-1.5inch long total piece of board) leave enough of the strip board to have room to be able to scratch away the white mask and solder two thin white wires to it, one for + and -.
Then remove the old LED and make it a flat surface, glue some KAPTON tape over it to insulate. Then hot glue the new Mini Strip exactly in place of the old LED, scratch away two solder spots on the strip, and solder the two wires to it observing polarity. Once you put the white reflective backing with the LED holes back in, it covers it up, and it looks right.
Doing that Mini Strip is much less labor intensive, than just trying to get the lenses right on the LEDs.Comment

Re: How To Repair Led Backlight Strips Video !
Well, if the Flocko method works, with less visual distortion to the image, then that is the way to go!
I noticed, that if you take the diffuser lenses off the LEDs and glue them on again, it is HARD to make it look right again against a solid blue or white backround! At least with Flocko Method, the Lens is untouched, and the light diffuses properly! I will never remove the lenses again, just too much hassle!Last edited by ZnsaneRyder; 03-05-2016, 01:06 PM.Comment

I ended up measuring the current going through one of the 4 strings (series LEDS hence 50-odd volts) and I got 150mA. And I think that was about 75% duty cycle. A 46" not-high end Samsung. So, I think allowing for 400mA would be sensibill.
I guess a very important key, is using LEDS from a reliable model. No point putting in LEDs from a Vestel or similar into a better TV!

And - of course - I wonder if most of the reason they fail is cos they can't quite get their heat out through the metal rear. heat sinking - Hot gluing them around teh OUTSIDE of the mini strips so the rear keeps metal-to-metal contact would be a good idea I reckon.Comment

by Max514Hi all,
Ok so I have this beautiful un55h8000 samsung tv with sound but no video nor backlight. When turning the set on the red light blinks 5 times.
The screen shows no damage and backlight turns on when I disconnect the power supply from the main board. The tcon board only has 2 out of 3 leds on.
I came across this page and followed the different steps: https://techhometravel.com/samsung-u...ight-no-video/
- Unplugging the main board cable at the power supply >>> backlights came on.
- BLU_ON signal from the

by JaquesPrattI have a Vizio D32f-E1 LCD TV that does NOT have a TCON board.
This TV recently went through some 'death throes' and now won't boot. The first problem that began to manifest was while watching tv, the screen would 'freeze', and the image would dim over a few seconds until it was very dark. HOWEVER, the audio of the show would continue as normal. I could power off the TV for 5-20 seconds, power back on, and the video would be normal. This would occur 1-3 times when the TV was first started, and would not happen again after the TV was 'warmed up'. Not ideal, but this glitch was manageable.... -

by edugimenoHi! This TV was ready for the trash so I picked it up before it was thrown away
It's pretty new, so I thought I should give it a try. I plugged it in at home and I was expecting blown backlight as most of the TV's that get to me, but in this case it showed backlight with no video at all (no logo no menu no nothing).
TV seems internally responsive, drives stdby led red when OFF, responds to remote to turn on and off, but gets no image at all
Anything common on these sets to start with?
Thanks!... -
by avisonjohnI have an LG 34UM68 with board EAX66876002 but it has issues with not working correctly.
It powers on, backlight comes on, but there is no OSD shown, and no video shown on the screen.
I checked over the board for any obvious visual damage, and everything looked OK.
I then took a dump of the main SPI Flash chip.
I tried to take a dump from the EEPROM, but it would sometimes read data correctly, and other times would had obvious reading problems.
I managed to get a dump from it which somewhat resembled correct data - part of the...-
