I'm just doing this to a couple of sets, Samsung and a Toshiba.
Did you happen to measure the LED current draw at all?
I see Shopjimmy is inaccessible from this part of the world too...

Cheers buddy Tom66 measured the current of each Led in a separate thread, its over 400ma on lowest brightness.

I dont think that is right 400Ma. most LED string drives have a max of 200Ma for the total string ? If each LED is driven at about 2.6-8 volts you will see about 8-10Ma

Not with the lower voltage , my testing shows just about the lowest they can be run at Is about 2.8-3.0v this is for one LED, when you get a string you will see up to 200Ma, this is why they need a forward currant of 200Ma but this must not be confused with rated currant consumed by each LED Yes you boy with your hand up sorry I though I was back in the class room

Think you going to need a bigger power supply in that one then. so lets say each string has 18 LEDs x 4 strings so thats 18 x 400Ma X 4 = come on boy work it out ? we and a bigger fuse in the plug and bigger cable

No this has 11 leds between two strings which is 22 in total, so thats 30.4w between the two meaning that each Led dissipates what Tom said lol tell me im in the wrong but that is exactly just below what the driver is set to output.

No it's pretty simple strip drops about 30V at 400mA so the total power is ~12W per strip. Current is NOT summed up in series circuits.

Current drawn from the wall plug is proportional to input voltage and load power. (So this thing using ~30W will pull roughly 30W/230V = 130mA from the wall)

I am trying to salvage LEDs from a Samsung 32 inch, and I CAN NOT get them off. The LED turns brown with a heatgun, it's frustrating, I really need those LEDs to fix this Sanyo TV. Any NEW LEDs ordered are not the right shade of white, and look yellow compared to the original LEDs. Other ones I have from ebay burn up after 5 mins. I really need to use LED from another TV.

Any ideas about stubborn LED's when trying to reuse them?

Also, what is the best method of adjusting the lenses to make them look right? Once I remove them and reattach them, they don't diffuse right and I get bright spots.

Use flux mate really helps. Also do not out it on full heat keep it on low heat (about 380-400d) and turn the fan up quite fast they will come off in no time. Or if not take the strip out and heat the underside of it.

You need to use 0.5w or even 1w type in pure white if yiu buy them off ebay.

The circuit is series configuration so the LEDs don't really draw 400mA, the current is determined by the power supply which passes 400mA through them (constant current circuit.) To do this it increases the voltage until the LED current is around 400mA. I think you are confusing it as if all the LEDs were in parallel, but they are in fact in series and so the total current of one strip is just 400mA, at its nominal rating (~30VDC for example)

You need to be pre heating the strip to at least 120 decrees c before trying to remove these with a heat gun .
