Panel driver fault, I think you can actually tear the horizontal tab drivers off and it might sort the issue from reading another thread. Please Do Not PM My Page Asking For Help Badcaps Is The Place For Advise, Page Linked For Business Reasons Only. Anyone Doing So Will Be Banned Instantly !

Re: horizontal line on SHARP LC-80LE757U
Well am not sure if it work like the lc-70le757u, because on that tv is by just remove the tabs bonding and it will be fix. ...in this set of 80 inch tv is a bit different it just have the tab bonding solder to the tv which it has 4 in each side and the 70inch had a board with tab and connectEd at the bottom with the image drivers...so am in ??????eather to Remove it or not bit scared.....thinking that don't compromise the all tv........any suggestions ......Comment

Re: horizontal line on SHARP LC-80LE757U
are you sure that the tabs are soldered to the panel? have you looked closely at each tab for signs of heating? When the tv is on have you "felt" each tab to see if there is a noticeable temperature difference which might highlight the marginal tab.... which if you are maybe lucky and they are soldered, you might be able to fix by close inspection of the soldering... maybe.Comment

Re: horizontal line on SHARP LC-80LE757U
ok... move towards the bottom corner of the set. The 4 tabs on the side should terminate on to the bottom board with some sort of cable connection. Is it a clamped cable connector? Hopefully, if so, can you disconnect that cable connector from the bottom board?Comment

Re: horizontal line on SHARP LC-80LE757U
you need to look thru the forum. Lots of the 70 in sets have been saved with this type of failure. Yes it can't be return to "factory spec" but it can be made to look "as good as new". The problem here is determine if the 80 in has a similar capability as the "operation" IS NOT reversible.... so one gets only one chance.Comment

Re: horizontal line on SHARP LC-80LE757U
but the "issue" isn't about the "lack of boards". The issue is the lack of tabs on BOTH SIDES of the set. In the "operation" used on the 70, tabs are removed from the "bad side" which allows the "still good side" to operated "better", resulting in basically a good picture / set. Since the 80 DOES NOT appear to have tabs on both side, it looks like the "operation" is not possible and thus it is less likely to save the set.
having said the above, IF the sides are indeed soldered to the panel, then a close inspection (both visual and with meter) and / or possibly retouching those joints may help depending on how accessible the solder points are to "standard soldering tools".Last edited by budwich; 02-16-2016, 12:48 PM.Comment

Re: horizontal line on SHARP LC-80LE757U
On both both sides it has 4 ic drivers....4 on the right and 4 on the left....the pic above is just an example how the drivers look like with no board (the sample pic shows only one side has drivers)and on the 80 inch tv has it on both sides.Comment

Re: horizontal line on SHARP LC-80LE757U
OK... thanks for the clarification.
Don't worry about the lack of boards... they aren't the issue anyways.
The four tabs on each side have to be connected somewhere. Hopefully, if you follow those connections around to some point that can be disconnected / reconnected via a connector. That's what you need to double check things. Is there such a point? The picture that you posted doesn't show any cabling on the sides.Last edited by budwich; 02-16-2016, 02:46 PM.Comment

Re: horizontal line on SHARP LC-80LE757U
Well... if you are trying to make some money off this, then I think you are out of luck as there is no way to bring this set back to "factory standard". IF you remove the "troubled tabs", they will be gone and can't be replaced. If you are successful, I don't think you should "ethically" try to sell the set unless you fully and properly indicate to the buyer what has been done to the set. The "saves" discussed in the 70 in threads are NOT repairs and do leave the set "compromised" in some form.Comment

Re: horizontal line on SHARP LC-80LE757U
Yep I will research bit more on how these drivers work....what I think is that they are connected like jumping cables with in the glass they connect from battom to the top 4 driver. I checked the Glass very close to it, it has little line veins jumpin to one driver to another and I think one of the source tab bonding which originate picture some how it has extra connection to distribute to the drivers.Comment

Re: horizontal line on SHARP LC-80LE757U
good idea on the "compare". Interesting on how the tabs are interconnected. The reason you need to try and make the set run on one side only without doing something "non-reversible", is to verify that indeed the set will operate properly if you do decide on trying to totally remove the bad tab(s). If it does, you then can focus on the "bad side" and maybe even more closely focus on the specific tab. IF as you say, the tabs are soldered (unlike the 70in case), you might be able to figure out something with the solder on that particular tab either to improve it or take it out specifically.Comment

by IhandyrepairHi guys
I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.
never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the... -
by cubytusHi to all,
I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.
I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.
Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...1 Photo01-10-2024, 01:26 AM -
by StrudulI have a strange problem that appeared suddenly on my SHARP LC-60LE741E 60” LCD television. It has 22 evenly spaced horizontal grey stripes over the entire area of the screen. The stripes only effect dim areas of an image. Blacks are still purely black, and anything brighter than 40% is unaffected. Bright outdoor scenes are fabulous. Dark low contrast scenes ... like all CGI on Netflix are unbearable. It's like your looking through dirty venetian blinds. The grey bars appear above any slightly dark colors. If you look closely, you'll see that there are white pixels mixed in with the correct...
