    Philips 55PFL5527 panel failure?

This Philips 55PFL5527 probably has a bad panel.
I don't see how this could be a bad T-con, right?
    Please confirm.

I now have two sets of this model with the same problem.
Must be panel bonding failure, right?

        Panel failure.
Interesting ultra-wide 21:9 display. Fairly rare. Imagine sourcing a panel will be a pain.
Consider the tab-pull as done on the 70" panels as a possible temporary fix (but certainly wouldn't sell one like that myself.)

              Re: Philips 55PFL5527 panel failure?

Sorry for replying to ancient threads, but I just had one of these on my table.

Picture was even worse, only the bottom fourth of the picture was visible. Culprit was the gate driver COF on the lower left hand corner which had burned and melted itself on the plastic frame. After snapping the cable free the picture was similar as seen in the first message of thread.

So an obvious panel fault. Took the box cutter and I cut all of the left hand side gate drivers off. Resulted in a good picture.

Don't know about the longevity of the "fix" though... any clues?

Long thread here which involved removal of side panel boards of Sharp 70" TV.

                  by howardc64
Eventually discovered a burn mark near lower corner of LCD. Here is a summary
                  • Backlight on, no image
                  • Disconnect right buffer board (view from front), left side display comes on
                  • Masked off pin 7+8 (both ~12,5v on both left and right buffer board) from t-con to right buffer board (view from front) display works but have some lines
                  • Buffer board is pretty simple
Removed the front bezel to examine edge of the glass. Found burn mark on lower right (view from front). Plastic bezel covering the burn mark region shows heat signature on the inside surface facing the LCD panel. Last 2 pics. Bright...

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
                  by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
                  by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
                  • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
                  • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault
