I've got a Bush bpdp42hd3 42" plasma. When I turn it on the relay clicks on and there are small white pixels at the bottom of the screen for a second and that's it. The green light on the TV stays on. I've tried switching sources to find out if there is any sound coming through and there isn't.
So I opened up the TV and visually I can see nothing. I tested the usual points, VScan, VA_TP, VS_TP, Ve, PS_on etc. When the TV is switched on the voltages are correct but then the voltages drop to near zero.
I've unplugged the boards and still the same. So I decided to do the Logic Board test where you short the pins. I read to short the PS_ON and GND to the Main board and it should click. Then remove the cable to the main and short pins 3&4. I tried this and I got nothing.
So as a test I thought what would happen if I short pins 1&2. I turned on the tv and the screen came on all pixelated with a white pixelated band running across the top. The screen was changing but the screen was very pixelated. Then I could smell burning. It was coming from the Y buffer board the 2nd chip from the top. I quickly turned off the TV. I left it for a while and connected everything back up and turned the TV back on. There was no more smell of burning and its the same problem as the beginning. You can turn the TV on and the green light on the front of the TV is on but no picture. The green light on the logic board flashes for 5 seconds then off again and repeats.
Sorry I've written a lot. I'm a bit lost now as to what the problem is. Is it the Logic board or the Main board as the readings on the X and Y are good until the power drops.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
