    Sony KDL26AF400 2 blinks

    Hello everyone,

I'm trying to repair this TV which has stopped turning on and everytime you try to do so, I get two red blinks. I'm fairly experienced in electronics as well as troubleshooting, TV isn't what I normally repair (although I do have some past experience) so I could use a bit of your help.

I looked up the error code online and I got a few mixed results. Some tell me that this means some type of power supply issue unless the relay/power on signal never shows up, in which case it could be the main board. Others tell me that it's a b+ over current protection code which would be on the power supply. Others tell me its an overcurrent external to the PS.

This TV uses an MA2 chassis, I noticed it must be an edition only available for latin america as I can't find results for it in english, however it seems to be the same as 32L4000 for the most part. If you would like me to post the service manual let me know but it can be easily found by googling MA2 Sony service manual.

Back to the diagnosing. I disconnected all peripherals that feed off the power supply and main board, leaving only the main board, PS, and control buttons attached together. I still got the same result. I disconnected the PS and isolated it, then I fed the power on pin 3.3V from the standby PS output. The PS clicks on and produces all voltages as follows

Power_ON 3.3V (only when fed manually)
    AC_DET_OFF 3.3V
    13V UNREG 15.7V
    12V REG 11.9V

    24V UNREG 24.1V

The only thing that struck me as odd is the 13V unreg voltage which is a bit elevated but considering it's unregulated, it seems normal without load. At the same time the 24V rail is also unregulated and stays close to its written value.

When you try powering the set on, the Power_ON signal doesn't appear at all. I also read that if there is a power supply AC input issue AC_DET_OFF will go low, which doesn't occur.

The power supply seems to work fine when i power it on while isolated and also works pretty good when I put a dummy load on it's 24, 13, and 12V power rails. The 13V unreg does go down a bit with a dummy load, settles at around 14V.

One of my search results, as mentioned earlier, told me that if the relay never clicks on, the issue is on the main board. Out of curiosity i disconnected the 12V reg and 13v unreg lines to see if the issue might be on the main board and related to these two lines. Tried again but nothing, still two blinks even when only 3.3 standby and AC_DET_OFF signals are being fed into the board.

So it seems like the main board is the issue. I would preferably like to repair this main board if possible. I searched around and checked for obvious shorts but found nothing. Checked all the fuses scattered around this board but also found nothing wrong.

Can you guys confirm that the issue is probably the main board? Could you also offer any insight as to the possibility of repairing this main board?

If you isolate the 3.3V line being fed from the main board to the power supply board,
does it read 3.3 volts when you power up the set?

Oops, sorry about that. It's KDL26FA400.

I tried isolating the Power_ON line from the power supply and still don't get anything. What does that tell you? Bad MCU somewhere?

          This is the board,

The main board is not sending the PS-ON command to turn on the power supply, what is causing it I do not know.
Are you also missing the BL-ON and DIM commands to turn on the backlights?
Can you provide pictures of the whole back side of the TV so we can see all the boards?

              Re: Sony KDL26AF400 2 blinks

Here's your picture of the boards, sorry it's kinda crappy.

No BL_ON, no ADIM, no PDIM. Not even for a second.

I thought I was close to what may have been a short but now I'm not sure. I was getting a reading of 10 ohms across a coupling cap and ground. I found that the source is IC7005 pin 13 which says Vout. The voltage branch is called D3.3V. Every part of this branch reads 10 ohms to ground but considering this is only 3.3V then that would only be around 300mA which may not constitute an actual short, 10 ohms is probably just coming from all the stuff sharing the circuit. Your thoughts?

                Re: Sony KDL26AF400 2 blinks

Okay well I had a bit of a "screw it" moment and I jumped the isolated Power_ON line of the power supply.

When I tried turning it on, the first press of the power button the green light comes on and off, a second press turns the TV on for around 8 seconds and I can see the BRAVIA logo on screen but rather dimly, i can also hear the speakers pop and the audio amp come on as well as a bit of static heard on the speakers. After this the tv goes off and gives 7 blinks.

From what I noticed and heard, the inverter seems to struggle. I'm not sure if this is an inverter issue or just as a result of me powering the tv on incorrectly, however I do hear some buzzing coming from the inverter and the back lights are dim and flickering. From what i read 7 blinks means HV shut down. When I repeat the test without the inverter hooked up, the TV powers up the same minus the back light.

So far don't see obvious signs of arching or anything like that. Checked some fuses and everything seems okay.

The readings on the inverter input connector are,

                VCC 24V
                BL ON 3.1V
                ADIM 4.4V
                PDIM 1.5V

EDIT: I went back and took the reading on that D3.3V rail that I thought had the short, while the TV is on it only has 1.5V, so something is definately wrong there. This might also be the source for PDIM thus why the inverter is acting weird?

                  Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?

Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board

Sceptre U550CV-UMR 4K LED, Bad Caps on Main Power Board?
                  by Dani_2024
Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...

Issue: No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

Short answer: replace main board and power board
Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

                  Long answer:

TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?
                  by cheeky2
I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...
