    Samsung PN58A55081F sparkling pixels

    Hello,

I inherited a Samsung PN58A55081 Plasma TV, and it has colored pixels sparkling all over the screen. I did a little research and think it may due to bad caps on the power supply.

    Here are some pics:

EDIT: Sorry, I posted the wrong links for the pics. Here the correct links:

I've never done any sort of TV repair, but I have worked on computers and other types of electronics. I do have a few questions before attempting to fix this.

First, I read that a 10 W wire-wound resistor is sufficient for discharging the power supply caps. Would I just plug the pins of the resistor into the connector for the board? And does polarity matter, as in can it be plugged in either way?

Also, does anyone know which capacitors this particular power supply uses?

Unlikely caps on the PSU will cause Mal-Discharge, --which is what you're describing, if all the output Voltages are correct.--Have you checked Vs and Va...??

Probably the panel itself has aged, How many hours on it? Worth checking all the supply and Y-SUS voltages, such as VSC, -Vy Vs and Va etc.

Maybe a very careful adjustment of Yfr and Yrr will help, or a slight reduction in Vs voltage...

Are the voltages all marked on the PCB's? I haven't cracked open the TV yet. I can check them with my meter once I take it down.

The TV is from 2008 and has a lot of hours on it.

How would I go about adjusting Yfr, Yrr,Vs?

All voltages marked on Panel Label.

7-8 year old panel will prolly be very worn, which is what I suspect by looking at the pictures, those almost stripes of M.D. down the screen, caused by manufacturing tolerances of the glass and the cells....
Patches of M.D on Old Samsung panels seems to be fairly common in sets made later than the xxQ96/7HD series, which is odd as Ive not seen any defective panels in this older (Q96) series....

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Samsung BN44-00262A H37F1-9SS power supply help finding blown value components!
            by cheeky2
This Samsung combined power supply and inverter was replaced a while ago from a Samsung 37inch LE37B530P7W TV. However I would like to repair this one.
I have replaced the Mosfets Q1820 and Q1821 ( FDPF7N50U) which were both blown and the fuse FM802S. The schematic for this power supply that is attached doesn't relate to this power supply as the driving transistors and diodes are D1830, D1831, D1832, D1833, Q1811 & Q1810 are nowhere on the schematic!
Does anyone know what the components for D1830, D1831, D1832, D1833, Q1811 & Q1810 should be? I ask as I did change the Mosfets...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
            by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

I have two years of college in Electronics Engineering Technology. Ive been tinkering with electronics sine about 1990. I know enough just to be dangerous, so be gentle.

Samsung UN75J6300AFXZA LCD TV Power Supply Troubleshooting
            by MtnManMike
            Hello,

I'm hoping to get some help figuring out how to troubleshoot this power supply board. The television is a Samsung UN75J6300AFXZA, version no. UH03. The power supply board has two model numbers on it, L75S1 and BN44-00723C. As far as experience level, I'm familiar with recapping boards in terms of safely going through the soldering motions, choosing suitable replacement parts, and so forth, but as far as understanding the various functions of each part of these TV power supply boards, I am a rank beginner.

When I plug the TV in, the screen flashes on and off and...
