Sharp 70" LC-70LE732U Force PSU and Blacklights on

    Hello,

I have a 70" sharp tv, a bit of history about this tv, the place I work bought it new, it sat in storage for over a year, when it was unboxed it was dead. Flashing center light 1 fast 1 slow. No warranty left on it so they gave it to me instead of scraping it.

I did the Input + volume down to get it in service mode and reset the lamp error - this worked a few times untill the tv failed to turn on even for the service mode.

I want to learn about fixing tv's and found this to be a great opportunity for such.

I took the back cover off, downloaded the service manual - popped the front screen off and tested all the LED's - I was expecting a few mini light bulbs... and almost wet meself when I saw over 400 LED's - I used a 48VDC source to test 5 or so at a time using the TP's on the strips. they all lit up nicely.

At the moment with everything plugged in as normal - the TV will flash the LED's on for about .5 seconds and then kick off the PSU giving the 1 fast 1 slow flash. I have tried all the button tricks of volume + channel ... pwr and so on. Same results.

I then disconnected the cable between the PSU and the main board - jumped the PS-ON to BU5V and PNL-POW (so the 3 connect together) the PSU comes to life - no LED action from doing this.

There is a PIN labled OFL which I don't know what it means and would like to understand it's function. when the PSU is on, there is 700+ AC volts on the primary side which got me all excited. from my random testing there is no pwr going to the transformers for the LED's, I can't find what kicks on the transistors for them. I get no voltage from the STB pin at any point.

If the main board can kick it on for it's testing phase, surely I should be able to.

I am learning about transistors and diodes and all the other fun stuff as I go. I tested the transistors and am confident they are good. (un-Soldered them and tested the different legs based on schematic found for the model)

Now I must confess that I damaged the front panel when taking it off - who knew it was a bad idea to do so with the tv upright. I have disconnected the 2 big ribbon cables that connect to the TCON (if thats what it's called) board for all of my testing. I realize this TV will never be used again, and to be honest it's far to big for any normal house. But it does offer a great test lab to learn from.

So my question is - how to force the backlights on - i get all the right voltages based on the pins including PNL 12V on pins 1 + 2 but whatever tells the lights to come to life has been eluding me.

will attach some pics in a short while.

      Looks very similar to
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...t=50663&page=1

Only difference I see is the led power on yours having two outputs.

      For a reference
pd-19 2.5 to 3.xx V depending on dimmer settings( backlight)
      pd-21 OFL 1.6V

What tells the light to come up is still a partial mystery to me, but that main board sends some signal back over that way based on my experience.

What do you mean by damaged the front panel? The actual lcd?

Corsair K70 LUX RGB dying LEDs
        by Pipolups
        Hi there !

I'm having an issue for several weeks with my quite old K70 LUX RGB keyboard. I haven't used it for few months, and once I setup up again my desktop computer, I got several dead LEDs on that keyboard. I tried the Corsair troubleshooting thing (disabling options in iCUE, ...) but nothing changed so I conclude that for some reason some LEDs went in retirement...😅
Decision taken to change these LEDs as I have access to desoldering iron and binocular magnifier, I wrote a ticket to tech support, hopping to obtain the LEDs reference and... They refused to tell me 🙄...

Sharp 70' LEDs Spike 260v at start up?
        by JayPoorJay
Hi all. This is my second thread. Have a bunch of questions.

I got my hands on a 70 inch Sharp Aquos LC70EQ10U. Not working when I found it.

I replaced the power board (found in eBay) and the TV finally produced an image. Reset it had image and sound.. Went from 2 slow and 2 fast blinks as a fault code to 1 slow 1 fast fault. Lamps or inverters according to the manual. TV is one now, at this moment (looks great w/ ZERO dark spots on screen) but it powering up and producing an image is unpredictable. 3 out of 10 times.

There are 3 leads to the LEDs....

Sharp LC-39LD145K No Power to LEDs
        by Easky15
Hi all, Been a while since ive had to use this forum,
I have here a Sharp LC-39LD145K that works fine apart from no power to the backlight LEDs, I have stripped it right down and tested all LEDs and they all work fine, I can see them flash briefly for a split second when powered up, the voltage to them slowly drops away after the flash so im guessing there is an issue with the power board,

I think the model number on that is 17IPS20 and here is some pics of it

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated,

        Thanks...

        Insignia NS-37D20SNA14 intermittent LEDs
        by THE GTC
So I use this TV daily as a second monitor for my PC or my Playstation - at one point a few months back I tried to fix the problem - but in the process, I figured out something that works so I haven't posted this for awhile. It is an annoying trick to have to do though, so I decided to post about it to see if anyone could spot what's wrong. It baffles me because it works on it's own half the time.

When I first got this TV, I was told it wouldn't turn on, and of course I did the flashlight test, and the image was there. Also, the red LED on the front indicated that it had power (it...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
        by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...
