I think a whole lot depends on Where you live. Posh place like London or the home-Counties, prolly wont sell a 5 year old set--At All.

Reecey--Have you any 42Q97 PSU and control-boards?

Leeds is the same. I'd have difficulty shifting parts, plus I'd have to deal with eBay returns, and packaging... Selling the whole TV is easier. I give warranties, so I can get good prices.

I also give 3 months FREE warranty on all my Tv's I do get a few returns but nothing serious.

Glad to see forums are back up and seem much quicker.

I tested replacement X-main & buffer for shorts before plugging in, no shorts. Powered TV up and it now works fine except for a 5-6cm black line on right hand side of panel exactly where the original buffer board was shorted.

Guess it was panel failure that killed the buffer that took out the x-main. Surprising as it only has 492h on it. Will keep this one to replace bedroom TV and hope the panel doesn't get any worse.
