    Sony KDL-55W900A

Here is a video of what my TV is doing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aHWQ9j9ois

I've replaced both the power supply and T-con boards, but the problem stays the same, 5 red light blink error code. If I i disconnect the output ribbon cables from the t-con board, the tv will not fault.

I've inspected all of the ribbon cables around the panel and none of them appear damaged. I've never worked on a Sony, so I'm curious how the side panel cables work.

Do they use the frame as a ground? or are they just to test the panel in the factory?

Have you tried inputting a signal in? Those tabs cables appear to be carrying / transferring signal from one section to another. Are they on both sides or just one side. If you "feel" them while the tv is on, do any of them feel warmer than others? I suspect if you actually input a known signal / display, your problem will be easier to ascertain.

Yes, the tabs with the driver chips are on both sides of the display. One is hotter than the rest. I just ordered http://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Thermal.../dp/B00UYTTLI4 to install so that I can sink the heat onto the aluminum bezel. I'm hoping that it is a loose connection and not an actual chip or tab ribbon failure.

Of course if it is internally shorted, there isn't a lot that can be done, although
I have read that there is an option of removing a single driver and the display can still work.

"I have read that there is an option of removing a single driver and the display can still work."

Interesting, where did you read this? We (the forum) have found that certain sharp (visio and sony) at 70in have tabs down each side. On certain tab "failures" associated with one side, they are totally removed down that side and the set functions "well" there after. I don't think anyone has seen this "same result" from others / lesser side designs, hence the question.

Back on your problem, if you disconnect the tcon cable(s) associated with that side of the set, does anything change ... again, good input will help with the diagnosis as looking at a blank screen / snow isn't very useful (even a menu has limited use if the menu is "sided").

          see this as an example.

I believe it was this thread that talked about it.

ok.... but I think that those are looking at "replacing" while the sets the forum looked at was removing. Certainly interesting, as I don't know of many that have tried a tab replacement... of course, finding a replacement tab might be a problem for most.

I figure that I will have to find one harvested from a broken panel.

I really hope that I don't have to go that far; that the thermal pad will keep the driver chip cool enough to solve the problem.

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                  Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                  First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

Sony KD-65A1 Repair – 4 Red Blinks Error
                  by AK_777
                  Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...

                  Sony KD-55AG9 TCON?
                  by bbrain
                  Hi,

I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
                  It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

                  Thanks in advance!...

                  Sony XBR-55A8G 4K OLED image ghosting/jumping around
                  by Cheesesteak
                  Hello All,

Hoping one of you wizards might be able to help me, I'm new to TV repair, I'm trying to troubleshoot a ghosting/jumping image on a 4k 55in Sony XBR-55A8G OLED TV.

I have tried re-seating all cables, and lightly manipulating the cables while the TV is on to see if the picture changes with pressure on any of the cables/connectors. I also replaced the TCON board and the ribbon cables connecting the TCON board to the panel, the issue has not changed with the replacements or with any cable manipulation / re-seating.

I saw some people had success...

Sony KD-65x8500b - bad Tcon or panel?
                  by rimwall
Hi, hoping for some views on this one which I've not come across before. The TV generates an image that has 12 noticeable bands across it. The image is still there and accurate, but the colour (or perhaps the brightness) changes gradually across each band which creates a noticeable 'step change' at the edge of each band. Given it's a 4K TV with 2160 rows of pixels, I'm guessing the 12 bands correspond to 12 gate drivers of 180 rows each. If this guess is right, then perhaps:
                  a) all the gate drivers are malfunctioning the same way (which seems unlikely), or
                  b) the Tcon board is malfunctioning,...
