    UE46D7000LUXXU Banding on screen

Hi I have these dark bands that are mostly on the left hand side of the screen and a few in the middle..Is this a panel fault and if so can it be fixed?

Am I right in saying the bonding tabs may have started to come away?

I would say this is a panel failure unfortunately. The D series sets seem to be particularly bad with these faults.

Are they repairable? and is it cost effective to do so?

No, unfortunately a panel failure means the LCD is bad, which is not generally considered economical to repair (it is usually cheaper to replace the whole TV.)

Not just that you will rarely come across the correct panel replacement panel for the tv.

You have nothing to lose but some of your time if you strip it down to the tabs and apply some pressure. Who knows, you may get lucky.

I have seen videos on you tube showing how they can replace the bonded tabs, but no idea of cost? Surley with the amount to panels around with this type of fault, it must be feasable to get them fixed? as a new panel is 90% of the tv cost price?

It may be possible but will it be economical to do so? This guy has built this jig, but there's no evidence it works, and he wants to charge money to anyone who wants info on how to do the process themselves. As far as I know there is no economical way to do this.

You'd need to find the source drivers too, I have no idea where you'd source them. Not from cracked screens, as they are often damaged when the screen cracks (stuck pixels/lines)
