Vizio E601i-A3, flickering screen leads to no picture...but only sometimes

I'm lost as to what's going on. I'll describe it as best as I can. I've tried to capture video of it happening but have been unsuccessful so far as it happens inconsistently and I've either not had my phone out or had it on photo instead of video.

The issue begins with the screen flickering. There is no distortion to the picture itself, no lines across the screen. The screen goes dim then back to regular brightness repeatedly and quickly. This will usually lead to the screen going all black, no image at all, no backlight. The audio is not affected, I can still hear whatever was being watched. Sometimes that happens quickly, sometimes the flickering lasts for a minute or two before the picture is lost. When the picture goes completely out it is accompanied by a single, audible "pop." The power is still on as evidenced by the tiny power indicator light still being lit. I can push the power button on the remote or the TV and the indicator LED goes out.

If I turn the TV back on there is a good chance that the flickering will resume shortly after. Sometimes there is no flicker at all and the picture goes out when the "V" logo is being displayed during power up.

And sometimes it won't flicker at all and I can open Netflix and watch an entire show or lose picture abruptly. There have been one or two times where I have been in the TV menu when the flickering begins. I have exited the menu and launched the Netflix app and the flickering stops and I can continue using the app.

As I type this, my daughter is playing minecraft on XBox one, connected through HDMI input 4. In the past it has been connected to HDMI inputs 1 and 2 and experienced flickering and picture loss.

After reading some threads a few months ago I replaced the TCON board but the issue persisted. I put the TV away in a closet and just pulled it out again to see if there was any new info out or anyone had similar problems. I've had no luck finding anything online that matches the things I'm seeing.

Any help would be appreciated as I am at a loss and can't even seem to find a consistent pattern to the issue.

Is possible that one or many of your LED'S inside the tv screen is going bad. Try reducing the Backlight setting in the menu. If Backlight setting is at 10 which means full power, try lowering down to 4.

reducing the backlight setting doesn't change what's happening.

Also, a correction to my original post, the picture is still there and can be seen using a flashlight on the screen. It's the backlight that is out.

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Gen 10 - Flickering Screen
        by Ado02
        Hello everyone,

We recently replaced the OLED screen on a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Gen 10. After about a month, the replacement screen began to flicker. Initially, updating the IntelĀ® IrisĀ® Xe graphics driver resolved the issue for about a week. However, when the problem recurred, updating the driver again had no effect.

The flickering only occurs once the system reaches the Windows login screen. Interestingly, if we disable the Intel GPU driver or connect the laptop to an external monitor, the flickering stops. We have tried installing two different replacement screens,...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
        by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

HP ENVY HP 13-aq1013dx - screen flickering black if using touchpad or external mouse

This device came in due to the screen flickering if you use the touchpad or external mouse. It will flicker black when this occurs. If you use the touchscreen, the behavior does not appear. Also, if connected to external monitor, the external monitor is not affected by the flickering. I did a good amount of research on this, and concluded that it is due to the display driver. HP does not offer Windows 11 drivers for this model so I got the replacement drivers direct from Intel. I installed them and the problem...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
        by smic717394
        Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

LG 42LN540V LED Backlight Flickering After Replacement When Connecting The Screen
        by RetroComputingGrotto
This TV has been on the wall in our reception area for around 10 years and the other day the backlight failed. You could see a feint picture so we knew the screen was OK. I took the TV apart to get to the failed backlight and inject voltage in to each half of the LED strips to identify which ones had failed and 4 needed replacing. I ordered a set off of Amazon and they arrived the next day.

On fitting the new LED strips I plugged in the TV was blinded by the light!!

It was only when I partially put it all back together (including the screen) that...
