reducing the backlight setting doesn't change what's happening.

Also, a correction to my original post, the picture is still there and can be seen using a flashlight on the screen. It's the backlight that is out.

I'm lost as to what's going on. I'll describe it as best as I can. I've tried to capture video of it happening but have been unsuccessful so far as it happens inconsistently and I've either not had my phone out or had it on photo instead of video.

The issue begins with the screen flickering. There is no distortion to the picture itself, no lines across the screen. The screen goes dim then back to regular brightness repeatedly and quickly. This will usually lead to the screen going all black, no image at all, no backlight. The audio is not affected, I can still hear whatever was being...
