Looking to buy this set from Ebay. Fault is tv comes on + backlights but no picture which i would have thought would be a Tcon fault but from what i can find it doesn't have a Tcon. Could this be a main board fault?

Re: Sony kdl-40r473a
Ihave the same TV model wich can not start, standby voltage is there, power_on come back from main board but drops immediately to zero.
I have the schematic diagram but I could not identify the cause.
I looked to the circuit of power_on but did not understood who the circuit works and why the voltage dropped down.
I am still in learning phase, I am not expert.
so please help if it is possible dear experts. I will attach the schematic diagram with this post. -
Re: Sony kdl-40r473a
well the problem is solved, the power_on coming back from the main board were disconnected to the circuitry where it should go, a line of copper in the power board was broken.
but still no picture, when i approche a light to the screen there is a menu and sound.
seems that the back light is died. any suggession? tnxComment

Re: Sony kdl-40r473a
Plug it in turn it on and report every voltage at cn6401 connector, meter set to 20 vdc, black - probe to chassis ground, report all readings of all connector pins minus grounds, be careful with meter probe to only contact one pin at a time.Last edited by nomoresonys; 01-15-2022, 06:31 PM.Comment

Re: Sony kdl-40r473a
One of the first and least expensive things you can do when you have an issue is take the powerboard out of the tv, flip it over and look the solder joints over with a magnifying glass if needed, add a little flux to make the solder flow well and add solder to any joints that look even a little suspect. You can practice on a scrap pcb board if needed, careful not to bridge any joints, and always let the board sit for quite a while or discharge the big caps with an appropriate resister before working on it (safety first) to try to keep from getting shocked, it doesn't take 1000 volts to KILL, a lot less can kill, so be careful, it's only a tv.Comment

by Daren87Hello everyone,
I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the... -
by thelankanguyThe TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?... -
by bbrainHi,
I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.
Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?
Thanks in advance!... -
by sickboyThis is a CRT I sold a few months ago and it's came back with this weird issue. It's intermittent, but not a thermal fault, or tap sensitive - just completely random. The right side of the picture completely blanks out (picture is not shifted). The on screen display is unaffected though, so not a fault in the line section. Anyone seen anything like before in a CRT?2 Photos

by Jas123Hi guys,
as I mentioned in the thread for the KDL-46X3500 (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...357#post901357) the guy was throwing two TV's out, and this KDL-37U4000 was the other one.
The 46" worked stright away - amazing.
The 37" presented with colour issue as he had suggested.
Polarised, I think is the correct term.
So, after research I ordered replacement IC AS15-U and proceed to replace the chip in the TCON board.
I measured the gamma outputs on the original chip (which should... - Loading...
