Help with Polaroid P40LED13 no picture fault.

Hello badcaps community. New member here looking for advice from better knowledged folks like your good selves with a repair I'm doing on a Polaroid P40LED13 led 40'' tv with the Vestel chassis. Basically this tv powers up, goes out of stand-by fine, sound is fine, but there is no picture at all. No splash screen for the logo, or backlight either. I've tried shining a touch at the screen but still can't see anything.

So far I have removed the back off the tv and started to make some checks starting with the power supply board. The power supply is a Vestel 17IPS20 type. I'm unsure of the exact voltages I need at the connector going to the mainboard and LED's as I have not found a circuit diagram for the board yet so still need to check those further. However I have found what seems to be 2 shorted diodes at locations D100, and D506 which are both parallel to each other. Anybody know the diode type these are so I can order replacements?

Is the 2 diodes at the those locations a known fault for this? Could another failed component cause these to short?, or can it be down to the heavy use the tv got as it was on all day most days. My knowledge of repair is not great on these, first repair in fact. However I'm long-time hobbyist and handy with a multi-meter/soldering iron so don't mind getting stuck in. Cheers.

Most common issue on this model power supply is a shorted FET that makes those diodes look bad - you can flip the board over and check.
Replace the FET, it's a 60V device (not 30V as the schematic suggests!) and the adjacent diode.

Re: Help with Polaroid P40LED13 no picture fault.

Just thought I'd update this thread to let you know the TV is now fixed and back with it's very pleased owner.

The fault was down to diode D506(MUR460 600V-4A rectifier diode) which had shorted. Although D100(RL207 1000V-2A) was showing it was shorted, it actually wasn't once removed and tested out of circuit. But have replaced both anyway.

I think the reason for the diode failing is due to the owner not switching the set off properly by unplugging from the mains whilst the TV is still on. Either that or a spike/surge in the mains power. Hope that help other's with similar fault, but it only was a couple of minutes fault finding with a test meter, and few more soldering work. Cost for repair, about 80p!

        RCA Virtuoso RHOS581SM-D Picture Fault
        by mmartell
Picture looks stretched out and it looks like every other vertical line is not being drawn though hard to see that in the pics.

I've disconnected each half of the panel and the fault remains exact save for the disconnected side being white.

The original complaint was the tuner stopped working so the main was replaced however the new and old board exhibit the same picture defect.

Nothing is getting hot and pushing on the panel drivers effects no change in the picture.

So with that does anyone know how to enter the Service Menu on this...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
        by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

        Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

        First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
        by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

        Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
        by TR103
        Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
        - sound and backlight, but no picture
        - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
        - it keeps rebooting
        - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
        - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
        - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

        - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
        by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started β€˜fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly β€˜new' Tcon board this time, and
