I have an RCA that just decided not to turn on yesterday, worked fine the night before. No blinking light or standby light. So I opened it up to see if the power supply had swollen or leaking caps. They look fine, no signs of anything burnt.

On the power supply I have tested the following

    CON1

    o +12V - 14
    o +12V - 14.05

    CON 5

    CON 4 For LED

Hmm probably best to start checking the Mainboard then do you know how to check voltage regulators ?

No I dont. I have checked all the voltages on the main board. The connection that has the +24V only reads 13.98 on both connections. I have more pics if needed too.

Some of your readings do not make sense, one connector has BL-ON of 2.6V, but 0.1V on another connector?

        GRD has 2.9V?
        24V Pins have only 13.98V?

How about up loading some good clear straight shot pictures of the whole boards and the whole back side of the TV so we can see how all the boards are connected together?

I re-tested all of those connections and the readings are correct.

I will upload more pictures. I will have to wait till in the morning to take more shots of the back of the boards.

Well, I cannot see how GRD (GND) pin can have 2.9VDC on it.
What did you use for GND ref point for your meter?

IMO you should replace the eeprom loacated between main chip and lvds connector.

First thank you for the help bud.

I used the chassis on the TV the other grounds reads 0 that I checked.

On the red LED+ W/ connector removed reads 116.0V / white still reads 71.4v

I noticed this morning the power supply board is making some noise. I originally suspected the power supply but did not want to just buy parts that are not needed. But the GRD reading and the +24 readings I dont understand either.

Is there a way to check it? And if so, how? Anyone?

                      Hi to all forum members,

This psu (Tiny Tech model ATX 480W) had been installed in a very old Windows XP PC but recently i pulled it out as the pc cannot start. To test it, i jumped the green wire and black wire on the 24 pin connector. The psu fan jerk a bit but not spinning. I used my dmm to check dc voltage on output connector wire, the 5v red wire keeps ticking a bit at around dc1v....then drops and ticking again around 1v. It is the same situation with the 12v yellow wire.

Fyi, i desoldered the secondary side electrolytic cap those over 1000uf...

New wire for my RDE3340 Whirlpool electric range
                      by wnlewis
OK. I got the rocker switch figured out thanks to the good advice on this forum.

Now I need to figure out the correct wire to go to the switch from the broiler element and from the oven element.

This is a Whirlpool RDE3340 electric range.

The common wire on the switch appears to have a high temperature insulating material. I am guessing that both the wire to the broiler and the wire to the oven elements also need relatively high temperature insulation. What do I need to look for? The broiler is rated at about 2400 watts.

                      Where may I find parts...

Vintage fan repair, copper wire question
                      by technicalspecialist
I currently have a customer's vintage fan on the work bench to repair.
It uses an induction motor with 4 poles. One of the poles is open.
I couldn't find the break so i cut off the original wire.
I have measured the other poles and the resistance is about 28 ohms per pole and I measured the diameter of the wire with my digital calipers and it is 0.35mm in diameter.

I need to work out how much 0.35mm diameter enamelled copper wire i need to order for it to be 28 ohms. I have used this calculator and it says i need 160.35 metres.

                      The enamelled copper...

So I have a cheap non working ATX PSU that I was learning to repair a decade ago. At the time, it blew the main fuse, bridger rectifier, NTC, and primary 9A 900V MOSFET. Replaced all except the MOSFET. 5VSB came back online. Then I poked around in it so much, measuring components one by one to a point I accidentally made the 5VSB circuit primary side went bang. Blown the AP8022 (Viper22A) PWM chip, along with a low resistance resistor and the PC817 opto isolator. I replaced them all.

In the process of poking around, I also lost a zener diode that stabilize the voltage coming from...
