40L1333B No Backlights Repair Log

Ahh just won this Toshiba Vestel junker off ebay. I have so far fixed 7 of these with this similar failure. The fault is sound no picture, backlights out. Very common issue is an Led failing rarely the driver will fail.

Getting the set some time this week its been posted ! Will post pictures and do a video on the repair.

i have fixed 2 x 42" hitachi smart tvs in 5 days both led strip faults

Nice one, typical Led junk. Im going to repair the original strips, I have a video of me repair a 42" Lg that I need to upload where I repaired the strips by replacing the open/shorted leds. Hows that 32" Hitachi going ?

have you ever had issues buying sets of ebay and having the delivered, im always concerned that the lcd will get smashed etc.

I have brought several sets off ebay including a 58" Led Tv non have come with damaged or smashed screens at all.

i buy up smashed LED tvs just for the light boxes and boards of course
saves time i had the exact one with a duff strip changed working screen onto smashed screen one done /dusted/and sold that was one of the 42" hitachi smart tvs

Fair enough, at the place I used to work I took all the Leds I donated to their company back to my house, I work from home now. The tv has been dispatched as well

Yes I fixed both of these that I brought, but the video footage got deleted Will probably get another soon though.

Samsung UE48H6410 replaced Mainboard but backlights doesnt go on

Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

I made the following tests:
1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...

Samsung UE49MU6400 acts dead until disconnecting backlights, then works.

Hi everyone I have this TV which was dead one day when I tried to turn it on. I've had the cover off and there was just a pulsating/electrical clicking/ticking noise from the PSU. I disconnected the mainboard as sometimes this works to just fire it up with backlights on? That didn't help. Same noise. Then I disconnected the backlight cable from the PSU and the TV came alive. It appeared to respond to the remote and i'm pretty sure it's fully operational when there is no backlight connected.

However, I am in a dilemma.

I tested the backlight outputs with the lights disconnected...

Samsung UN55NU7300F Curved TV. Half side backlight out. Fixed by just removing the rear snap cover

TV was fixed just after removing Samsung's rear snap cover.

This curved TV's construction is rather interesting. When the snapped on back is removed, rest of the TV will relax the curvature. Top of LCD panel is loose as it wants to straighten out against the slightly curved bezel. Snapped back provide most of the curvature shape. So just simple disassembly of rear cover will allow the rest of the TV frame to relax its curvature. Thats probably what fixed it but no idea which connection. 4x LEDs are edge lit.

Maybe PSU->backlight connector didn't have a good contact?...

Sony KD-75X750H no backlights

I just removed the back cover to test the backlights because when I first plug it in it will flash once and then start dark but I can see the image. I got 131v on string 1 and 167v on string 2. Usually when I get a bad set the meter reads 300v and they won't light up. When testing, each set lights up inside the tv. When I plug in the power and check the leads with my multimeter both strings are only about 3v.

Does this difference in voltage between the strings indicate that the lesser has bad LEDs? Or is it normal that they are not the same voltage? I've read some about this tv and...
