    Sammy PN50

I have a Samsung PN50 circa 2009 that I picked up. hard starting was the reason it was mothballed. I removed smps and went over(reflowed) all solder joints of items on heatsinks and all major power diodes as I have done this on another PN series plasma with success. Upon startup , I get the jingle then relay clicks then a high pitched squeal with fine vertical lines as in the picture. It will continue to shut down and try to restart on it's own four, five, even six times. Eventually, it will start and deliver awesome picture and sound. Vs is good as is Ve, I cannot find test pad for Va, Vsc is not good. Found test pad on Y main and measured -50 to -53 volts, (even when running with good picture) should be -196 according to label on pdp. Once it starts, it will run for as long as I want to run it. Turn it off and as long as I restart it within 60 to 90 seconds, starts right back up..waited 5 minutes, back to the squeal with the lines. Is Vsc generated on the smps?

Kind of a dumb question...wasn't it..Vs and ground are sent from smps to Y main. Vsc must be developed on the Y main. Thus a measure of the performance of the Y main.

Ahh well, let me state the following:

Psu Vs rails wont cause lines out on the Pdp.
Failed Ymain or Xmain wont cause lines out on the Pdp

What could cause this is either the mainboard or control board which is located to the left of the mainboard.

You could try heating the Mainboard with a hair drier to see if helps the issue looks like a Mainboard issue to me.

Turns out this is a known issue...Audio chip on front and one 8 leg IC and smd cap on back of board is causing it. I can ship it off for repair for $40 including shipping....I do not have a hot air station so it looks like I will be sending it off.

It very well is that Ic regulates 3.3v for the Cpu when that messes up it causes alot of issues they become heat sensitive when they fail.. Was just about to say order that and all should be good

                    Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                    by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                    Samsung QE50Q67TAU - horizontal lines
                    by Rubenlily
                    Hello,

First of all I'm new here. While looking I found this amazing forum and I'm very happy I did. Now for my problem:

I picked up a Samsung UHD QLED QE50Q67TAU from 2021 for $50 knowing it was defective. The seller said it had black lines and that it could get stuck in boot randomly.

I've tried a new power cable, hard reset, opening up and jiggling all cables, pressing everywhere to see if I get a reaction but I've gotten nothing. I've tried the tape method but I've only managed to get the lines worse.

I'm no expert but I've done the tape...

Onkyo DX-V500 Laser Disc Player - weird SMPS fault
                    by dkneyle
This relic from a technology path that came to a dead end (but still has historical interest) was brought in with a dead SMPS, which is based around a MK1210 device. I got it going after a battle. It seems to have a strange design - if it's not getting feedback that the secondary is OK it cause the big FET to go into full conduction and overloads resulting in a blown fuse at best or something worse! I'm using a Dim Bulb Tester (70W/230V) which thankfully has saved the day a number of times whilst repairing.

Now, it loads a CD OK. The motor voltage output (which is built onto the SMPS...

Sony XBR-65X750D Horizontal lines bottom of screen
                    by ggil44
Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
