LG 60PK750 sound but no picture

I bought a used LG 60PK750 that the former owner reported that there was sound but I can't check right now. The owner said it had no picture one day when he tried to start it up.

What it is doing
-red led is on when tv is in stand by
- led turns blue whenturned on
-screen lights up and there's the regular click as it starts
-screen still has a faint glow but no image
-the blue led flashes when buttons are pressed on the remote

I have repaired a LG 60PK250 before that had a bad resistor in the power supply so I own and have used a multimeter. I also have repaired a Samsung LCD that was behaving the way the 60PK750 but just by trying a new power supply by blind luck. I'm a gearhead and learn quickly but want some guildance on this work so I don't damage anything, spend money on unnessary parts, or spend a lifetime working on a $100 used tv. I've taken several pictures and can post video to once I get out of work. I know this is probably beating a dead horse topic wise.

I was having the same problem with a vizio and it turned out to be the main board!

The tv was cheap enough I don't mind if it's just the mainboard. I don't want to put in much more than $100. I got lucky with the last plasma and it just need a $1.25 plus tax in parts.

It might be the mainboard, but don't go flinging boards into a tv until you are certain.

I noticed you posted in a 50pk750 thread, have you ran test patterns on this 60" model?

If you are getting test patterns then the mainboard is your culprit.
