Samsung PN60F5500 Plasma Screen Going Bezerk

I have a 2-year old Samsung 60" Plasma TV model PN60F5500 which appears to be dying. The first sign of an issue happened 3 weeks ago - the TV wouldn't not turn on and the standby light would flash five times, then I would see a flash of light from the panel and the TV would power cycle (rinse and repeat). I unplugged the TV for a day and turned it on and it worked normally for another two weeks. Now it turns on and the picture is normal, but after about 30 seconds the pitcture starts flickering, moving horizontally, and flashing colors (I do have audio though). See video: https://youtu.be/LqkKWg_6ZhE

Eventually the actual source content will get squashed to the top of the screen in several horizontal lines while the rest of the screen id full of thin vertical lines.

I have had several power outages and during one of them I lost an HDMI port (won't detect any connections) so I know the main board needs to be replaced. I am assuming the power supply unit would be a good idea too. My question is if anyone has any idea if the distortion could be any of the remaining boards, or if the panel may be bad. If the panel is bad I guess it's a throw away which sucks after only two years.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Probably a failed main board or control board.

You can run test patterns on this this tv with the main board disconnected.
Please upload a picture of your control board (the small board usually located under the power supply.)

Thanks for the quick response Hamie! I removed the power board and there is nothing under it. I have attached several pictures of the TV boards just in case something will stand out to you.

Ah right now I see why I couldn't find a picture of the control board..

Because there isn't one, they seem to have incorporated it into the main board on your model.

Anyway, your fault looks like a mainboard or control board fault. Since both are combined in your model, a new mainboard should sort this out.

Thank you for the analysis Hamie! I knew I needed the main board anyway to fix my HDMI 1 issue, so this makes sense. I am going to purchase a board today and will have it by Wednesday. i will update after I get the new board installed.

Probably more failed BGA solder joints, I would also say bad mainboard.

                    Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
                    by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

samsung galaxy ao2s very temperamental after screen replaced
                    by Chrissygizmo
Hi , I've recently replaced the screen in my Samsung galaxy ao2s, at first it wouldn't even turn on, it had the charging symbol on the screen when plugged in but the green circle wasn't going around to show it charging....
Ive eventually managed to get it on and working but it's very temperamental...

The battery icon always reads as 50% , when the phone goes into lock screen mode i sometimes can't get the screen back on unless I plug the charger in to get it to light up, also it keeps putting the camera app on.. u think it could be something to do with the side buttons. ...

Samsung UN55J6200AFXZA Splash Screen Comes up, goes out, screen flashes one time and then tv won't turn off.
No picture. No sound that I can tell. Backlights are on and have been checked. Flashlight test no image on screen. I replaced the Eprom chip hoping that was the problem but nothing changed.
                    Please help. Thanks in advance!

Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN Help needed - Static line on screen
                    by Kiberge
                    HI guys!

I've got a Samsung LH82QENELGC/EN with a problem and need some advice and I hope this is the forum to use?
I'm from Norway so I'd like to apology in advance if my description of the fault is kind of simple or the names on the components are way off. 😊

the TV is powering up, working as normally and picture is all good, except a 1.5-inch-wide vertical line of snow/static across the screen.

This TV is a Signage Display/Public Display version and it's been used at my work for 4-5 years showing commercials 24/7. The fault occurred when...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                    by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
