    Nicks,

Not exactly sure how to accomplish any of that. What would that isolate? What would the results indicate?

      Nicks,

Are you going to try to get another main board from a D8000 and try that to see if it works? I found a site that has a few. Couple on ebay as well.

Are there any websites that list what boards are compatible replacements for each other? I have been to a few sites that say "xxx" board is out of stock, but use "yyy" board as an equivalent replacement. Not sure how much I trust that.

Here is a general tip for intermittent shutdown after warm-up ...
On the back side of the Y Main board are grey cushions that prevent
excessive board flex. Any hidden transistor pins can have bad solder
connects that can and will give the symptoms being discussed in this thread.
After five years of being warm and cozy, the pin connects get ringed!
And often a used replacement board will have the same issue! HTH.

          Terryfictv,

So how do I distinguish between either a bad main board or a bad y-main? Ive read that both of the constant on/off power cycling can be attributed to either one.

If your tv takes the exact same amount of time to cycle every time like clockwork, then it won't be a hardware issue. If it was a hardware issue, than the tv either would take less and less time to reboot every time, and or would have other symptoms.
I also am having a different main board shipped over, will let you know results when it gets in.

              Nicks,

It WONT be a hardware issue? Meaning its a software issue?

I called the Samsung parts distributor and asked them about alternate boards that are compatible with the 51" D7000. They said that they didnt have a compatible one listed, but said to try a board from a 59" or 64" D7000, rather than going with one from a D8000.

              Which board are you trying?

Practice visual acuity technique ! Use a magnifier and examine the heat-sinked device pin connects on the y main.

                  Martino, my man!
Got the part today, and indeed its a perfect fit, picture on this bad boy is real nice!

BN94-04718A from a D6500 will work with this set as well! Still not sure about the first one I tried but to be honest I do think it was due to a bad LVDS connector since someone else had successfully replaced it.
bp805 let us know what board you end up going with, if its the 59" board I would be interested in knowing if it will work or not.

                    NicksTvs,

Can you confirm that is the correct part number for the D6500 board? I only found two references to that board in a google search, but everywhere else has the board for a D6500 listed as a BN94-04728A instead. Wondering if it was a typo with the 1 and 2.

Also, how is the picture compared to how it used to be before your TV went out? Is the picture quality just as good? Will using a lower series board degrade picture quality?

                        NicksTvs,

I ordered a D8000 board today, so Ill let you know if it works once it comes in. I read on AVS forum that someone also was successful with a D8000 board and a few people chimed in to say that the D8000 should be compatible with our TV model, so fingers crossed!

So the D8000 board came today and it worked!! TV seems to be back to new and not shutting down anymore. There was an extra connection port at the top of the board that my D7000 board did not have on it, but still worked anyway.

Only issue I have is there is some sort of Samsung SmarTV ad bar in the top left of the screen that shows up every 10 minutes or so, then goes away after about 30 seconds. Im thinking this may have been from a display model TV maybe.

Anyone know how to get this to turn off and stop showing up? I didnt see an option for it in the menu.

It's still in store display mode, not home mode. Reset the tv and you should be golden

I am working on the D8000 version of this TV and have the problem of no power on. I can jumper PS on to GND with 100ohm resistor and power comes on, but no picture.

                                    All
voltages good. The Main CPU chip on the mainboard does not even get warm when forced on, but other chips will, so the culprit is something to do with this chip. I tried reflowing it with no difference.

I do get 1.0-1.1 Core voltage on this chip outputted from regulator on the mainboard, so I know the chip is getting volts, but is 1.0Vcore correct?

Since the 8000 board worked in your TVs, If I can't fix this mainboard, do you think other boards of a lower model (6500, 7000) will work for me? The board I found is over $160 YIKES!

Glad to hear Nick and bp805 were able to fix their TVs.

@ZnsaneRyder - It is possible the board from the lower model of the TV might work, but you may lose some features. I replaced the board in my 7000 with an 8000 board and gained use of wi-fi without having to plug in the dongle I previously needed to enable it. You would likely go in the other direction and need to add in the dongle if you rely on the TV's wi-fi. I am not sure what other capabilities might be different.

I would send it into PTS electronics they probably would fix it for $90 or so. They couldn't fix my board due to lack of software availability but when it comes to hardware issues which it sounds like it might be, they shouldn't have a problem with the repair.

Will the 7000 or 8000 work? Are there any lower models?
