Re: Samsung PN51D7000 Plasma turning off and on
mnm415- I believe what I did was replace the power supply board and it fixed all the problems.

Re: Samsung PN51D7000FF cycling off and on
So the D8000 board came today and it worked!! TV seems to be back to new and not shutting down anymore. There was an extra connection port at the top of the board that my D7000 board did not have on it, but still worked anyway.
Only issue I have is there is some sort of Samsung SmarTV ad bar in the top left of the screen that shows up every 10 minutes or so, then goes away after about 30 seconds. Im thinking this may have been from a display model TV maybe.
Anyone know how to get this to turn off and stop showing...

NicksTvs,
I ordered a D8000 board today, so Ill let you know if it works once it comes in. I read on AVS forum that someone also was successful with a D8000 board and a few people chimed in to say that the D8000 should be compatible with our TV model, so fingers crossed!

Re: Samsung PN51D7000FF cycling off and on
NicksTvs,
Can you confirm that is the correct part number for the D6500 board? I only found two references to that board in a google search, but everywhere else has the board for a D6500 listed as a BN94-04728A instead. Wondering if it was a typo with the 1 and 2.
Also, how is the picture compared to how it used to be before your TV went out? Is the picture quality just as good? Will using a lower series board degrade picture quality?

Re: Samsung PN51D7000FF cycling off and on
Nicks,
It WONT be a hardware issue? Meaning its a software issue?
I called the Samsung parts distributor and asked them about alternate boards that are compatible with the 51" D7000. They said that they didnt have a compatible one listed, but said to try a board from a 59" or 64" D7000, rather than going with one from a D8000.
Which board are you trying?

Terryfictv,
So how do I distinguish between either a bad main board or a bad y-main? Ive read that both of the constant on/off power cycling can be attributed to either one.

Re: Samsung PN51D7000FF cycling off and on
Nicks,
Are you going to try to get another main board from a D8000 and try that to see if it works? I found a site that has a few. Couple on ebay as well.
Are there any websites that list what boards are compatible replacements for each other? I have been to a few sites that say "xxx" board is out of stock, but use "yyy" board as an equivalent replacement. Not sure how much I trust that.

Nicks,
Not exactly sure how to accomplish any of that. What would that isolate? What would the results indicate?

Re: Samsung PN51D7000FF cycling off and on
Hmm, thanks for the info Nick'sTVs. Where did you find the alternate board? Are you planning on sending it back and getting a new one since it was defective when you got it? I sent Jaythespaz a PM to see if he could chime in on this thread about his results. Another thing he said on his PM to me, was that he was able to get his TV to power on with the main board disconnected, but I tried that with mine and it would not power on. Dont know how that factors in.
At this point, I have tested all the DC voltages on my power supply...

Re: Samsung PN51D7000FF cycling off and on
Gotcha. I found the firmware for the TV dated 11/22/12. Thats probably newer than the firmware I have in my TV since I bought it in 2011. I downloaded it, but Im guessing I wont be able to get the firmware to install to the TV since it only stays on for 1min19 secs on average? What would be the consequences if the tv power cycles off during the firmware install?

Re: Samsung PN51D7000FF cycling off and on
Update:
I tested the voltage on all of the test points (Vs, Va, Vsc, and Ve) on both the power supply board and the x and y-main boards. All voltages were within 1v of what they were supposed to be according to the sticker on the inside, except for the Vs which was 214v instead of 207v.
Ill take a closer look for cracked joints on the power board, but from what I have seen so far, I dont see any issues.
Is there a way to run some tests on the main board to try to find out if that is actually what is...

Re: Samsung PN51D7000FF cycling off and on
NicksTVS,
Thanks for the reply. Depending on what I did, it was either 45 seconds until it cycled, or about 80 seconds. I with everything plugged in as normal, it cycles on/off every 79 seconds or so, like clockwork.
I have seen some people say they can get the tv to power cycle with the main board unplugged from the power supply board, but that did not work on mine...it would not come on at all.
How long have you had the tv? When did it start having issues?

Re: Samsung PN51D7000 Plasma turning off and on
I tried to unplug various boards one at a time and turn the TV on to see if the power cycling issue stopped. Here are my results:
-Unplugged the main board from the power supply: TV would not turn on.
-Unplugged the y-main board from the power supply: TV turns on, no picture, and still power cycles on/off after about 45 seconds.
-Unplugged the logic board from the power supply: TV turns on, no picture, and still power cycles on/off after about 45 seconds.
-Unplugged the cables leading from the main board...

Re: Samsung PN51D7000 Plasma turning off and on
FIeury,
I have the exact same tv with the exact same problem. My power supply board doesnt have any busted caps that I can see. I was thinking of just replacing the power supply board, but dont want to do that in case there is something else. I have read other opinions that it could be the main board instead? But I dont know how to test either one to find out which one is bad to know which to replace. Did you have any luck repairing your TV?

Re: Samsung PN51D7000FF cycling off and on
(I know this is an old post, sorry to revive it, but need some help)
Jay,
I have the exact same TV with the exact same problem. I have done a lot of research and come to some of the same conclusions. Caps dont look to be busted on the power board. I tried unplugging the power button assembly, but still have the same problem. I got a voltage meeter in hand, but dont really know what I need to do to test what you did.
I was thinking about ordering a replacement power supply board, but am not 100% sure...
