Samsung LN-T3242HX/XAA - Intermittent white screen following T-con board replacement

    Howdy folks,

    Here's my story:
Visiting in-laws when MIL says her TV looks "funny".

After consulting the great Google, I determined that the picture was solarized and the potential fix was the replacement of the T-con board.

Being the good SIL, I offered to get a new board and try and save them some money.

Checked with Shop Jimmy, they did not have new replacement T-con boards but did offer a repair service for the board that I needed. Sent in board for repair.

Received "repaired" board, reinstalled, and low and behold, no solarization and the picture looked great! As I am jumping for joy, the entire screen goes white for about a second, then back to the picture (which still looks great). The picture remains for about 3-5 seconds and then the screen goes back to white for about a second, then back to picture, and repeat endlessly.

Any thoughts as to what could be the problem? Should I try to find a new T-con board? I would hate to pitch the TV as it still has a great picture, but I feel that I am starting to get out of my league.

    Thanks for all your help.

This sounds like someone replaced the as15 gamma IC and pins are touching. have you tried to reseat all the ribbon cables and the LVDS cable just to make sure that there's no bad connection?

if so yes I would return the t-con board and try to find another one.

but first verify if you replace your original t-con board back in the TV that the picture doesn't white out every 3 to 5 seconds.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

      Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I did try resetting the cables (one from main board and two to the screen). No change in the screen behavior. As for the board, I don't have the original as I sent that to ShopJimmy for the repair. As far as I know, the board I received was the original board, with whatever repair that was performed. I went with the repair option as the board that I needed was out of stock at Shop Jimmy.

I would contact SJ to see what they have to say about this problem on this repaired board.

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
          by Hakuu
          Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
          by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

          Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
