I think my plasma has bad caps

Has anyone seen a failure like the attached? My Panasonic Plasma TC-P65VT25 started to exhibit this behavior this week. Turn the TV on and the display looks fine. After about 15 mins, these red, blue, and green lines start to appear a few mm high and then grow to about 2.5 inches and remain that way until the tv is shut down and cools off. The lines are always at the same location: bottom of the top left quadrant of the tv.

Some folks have said look at the A board while others have suggested the SS board (X systain board). The problem does seem to have some analog (capacitor) logic to it since it doesn't show up until the tv has warmed up for about 10 – 15 mins.
There are few replacement boards remaining and I can only find one used one eBay. I may need to pull the caps and replace myself on existing board. Would appreciate experience from the forum experts.

Additional photo of the SS board from EBay.
    Thanks

that's definitely either A-board or D-board issue and won't be caps. most likely one of the bga chip solders failing under heat.

I'd probably try D-board As i've read of this before and they went with A-board with no change. the video processing i'm fairly sure is done on the D-boards in these.

Maybe access test patterns to be sure? I seem to remember some patterns generated by A-board, others by D-board, would help to eliminate cause.

I did get into the service mode today and was going to try the mirror functions (horizontal and vertical) to see if the lines moved to the other locations of the TV. Something very interesting happened, when the service menu came on the screen (it just so happened to be in the same quadrant of the screen but not overlapping location) the red, blue, & green lines disappeared. It seemed like the picture was lower resolution while the service menu was displayed but no lines. I flipped it back and forth via the mirror function and the display looked flawless.

Also I found where the other person who had this problem on his Panasonic replaced his A board and C6 boards and still had the problem. He never posted back on his thread if he was able to resolve it but I will focus in on the D board per thread recommendations.

            Thanks

Re: I think my plasma has bad caps

Here's a little diagram which also helps reinforce D-board issue as the fault is only half screen. Each processor on the D board controls half the screen

Re: I think my plasma has bad caps

I had been in the service menu but didnt realize or have documentation to the test patterns. I ran through them all and NTF (no trouble found) as all test signals displayed properly. That is good - the tv isnt in too bad of shape but not helpful in diagnosing the issue.

Giving further thought to the D-Board diagram which you provided, where one micro controls one half of the display and the other micro controls the other half does give further credibility to the D-Board as the faulty board.

My son is having his friends over for his birthday party this weekend and they will be busy gaming on the big screen. After that is over, off with the back of the panel and out comes the d-board. Hopefully I will see some issue on one of the micro leads, else i will go for the ebay used board.

                Thanks

I'm not an expert but I have repaired a few with the same symptoms and they required new IC's on the buffer boards to fix.

I changed the D-Board and problem solved. Thanks to all with the diagnostic help and recommendations.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.

Replacement caps for Samson Resolv studio monitor 65A Amp board.
                      by black6host
                      Good day!

I have a Samson Resolv studio monitor that has no sound output. I've opened it up and found two caps that are bulging on what I believe to be the power supply section of the amplifier board. The board is marked Resolv 65A AMP V1.2. The caps in question are YUSCON, 2200uF, 35V, 85C temp and have markings of RA(P) and are 16mm x 25.5mm tall. I've attached the schematic and the caps in question are C5 and C6. I'm assuming they are low esr caps. I've tested both caps and they test low uF, nowhere near 2200uF.

I'm going to replace the caps and I'll be the first...

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...
