Re: Replacing with Polymer Caps?
Sorry about being so general. Right now I'm looking at a an MSI Motherboard that has bad caps on the 24pin power circuit. They are Electolytic caps and the rest of the board is Polymer caps. I didn't have any like caps to replace the bad ones but I do have some polymers on hand that might work if it was possible. I did find some more information last night on researching and it appears that some people have switched them before and you can cut the uF requirement in half by doing so. Of course this comes from sources I don't trust so I was looking...

Replacing with Polymer Caps?
Just a quick question to see if its even possible or wise to do so. Can Electrolytic Caps be replaced by Polymer Caps. If so would the ratings be the same and is it even a wise idea?
Thanks

Motherboard Power-On Circuit
I've recently run into a few motherboards that won't power on when jumping the power button pins. Going back to the root of all evil I first checked my PSU for the +5v Standby then checked it all the way to the pin. All Good. Even checked other standby places on MB and got the +5v. PSU will kick if jumping the Green wire on the 24 pin connector but will immediately shut off when pulled. When it is running I'm not getting normal post nor video. I have repaired alot of SB950 chipsets for video problems in the past. so my question is. Does the Power_On circuit also run through the South Bridge and...

Re: MSI P67A-G43 Caps
I think I'm confusing you.....the cap that is supposed to be there isn't there. I'm trying to find out the specs of the missing cap so I can replace it. Someone apparently just ripped this one off the board with pliers. Only the prongs are still there. Its a solid State capacitor just trying to find out where I can get that kind of info on a motherboard.

I have an MSI P67A-G43 motherboard I'm repairing and its missing a Capacitor. It was missing when I got the board so I'm not sure what its rating was. Anyone have anyway of finding out?
Thanks

Re: I think my plasma has bad caps
I'm not an expert but I have repaired a few with the same symptoms and they required new IC's on the buffer boards to fix.

PCI Slots and Memory Slots Removal
Hi everyone,
I keep myself busy in my spare time repairing motherboard CPU Sockets. I have alot that have bad Memory or PCI slots. Does anyone have a sure fire way of removing them without destroying them? I have some bad boards with good hardware I'd like to reuse if possible.
Thanks
